Are the dime and half supposed to have a D mint mark?

They all have a D mint mark. Just that in 1964 all denominations except the penny have their mint mark on the reverse.

So there is actually nothing strange or unusual about this particular set; it is the same as every other 1964 D set....

You could place this in the "made you look", category. ;)

Ha! I had the same misconception as the OP!
No prize necessary because it wasn't earned, but now we both know!

Sorry about that guy's! There is one chance of saving face. The quarter's mint mark looks doubled or even tripled? If this turns out true, then this will be an unusual Mint set after all. Fingers crossed!

Without looking, I would bet that it is machine doubling. I have seen several 64-D quarters with that feature.

Do we know why that was? Were they doing something differently in that period?
