why do sellers do this

it is not even PCGS certified but a coin in hand as shown in the listing picture
Please explain why sellers do this as next week it will be a 67% off

    it is just to get attention.
    remember, a seller can ask anything he wants. Getting it, is another matter.
    and the image might have been taken before it was graded...

    To be listed as graded a photo of the slab is required.

    so after giving this some serious thought I can now understand the "WHY" in my post.
    if I offer the seller a buy it now bid of a .001 cent offer, it would cost me $10.16 ( 9.60 +.001 -.050). When I include in that the subtraction of the coin value of coin at .050 this would net the seller a neat profit of a minimum $7.50. Ok so do you agree my new thoughts?

    this seller doesn't know much about anything about coins, they sell collectibles like basketball cards, just look at the other items they are selling and closed auctions

    I guess that will depend on how it is described.
    I have not found any rule on that requirement.
    the interested party should be our host. as the name was mentioned and perhaps that is not appropriate if it is not true?

    It is easy for people to make a mistake.

    Likely story: He probably looked one up on eBay to see what he had. One in a PCGS holder came up. EBay asks: do you have one to sell?

    If you say yes, then eBay auto-generates a listing. If you don’t notice or don’t understand, you get words such as PCGS in your listing.

    It's called keyword spamming. It helps get more views when buyers do a search. Might be innocent in this case as Philographer points out. Some sellers do it intentionally to get more search hits. It is a violation of ebay listing policy.
