When an eBay Buyer Doesn't Leave Feedback, Good Chance They Died
I was poking around the Feedback Left section and ran into this seller, who seems to understand that there is just about no worldly reason not to leave someone feedback.

Lol, at least it’s funny. I used to be of the “I’ll leave feedback after the seller leaves it” variety. Then I realized I just don’t care anymore. So I leave feedback once I get the item and I don’t worry if a seller leaves it or not. I’d say about 10% of sellers don’t leave any feedback for me even after I’ve left it for them.
Definitely a good way to get some negative feedback from the buyer if he/she resurrects...
I remember a case where a seller bugged a buyer to leave feedback. The buyer eventually left a Negative with "Here's your damned feedback. Happy now?"

I remember that and still think it's funny. Especially now that I have high feedback, I'd never actively ask for feedback. If a buyer isn't happy for whatever reason (and not willing to let me know so I can help solve a problem), I'd much rather they forget it than air their grievances.
I do sometimes get requests for feedback from buyers, which I find odd since it's completely meaningless. I leave it when I get paid. If I don't leave it, it's because you paid me 2 weeks late or because I thought I hit the button and I didn't.
For multiple reasons I don't solicit feedback. From a sellers side, I sometimes wonder if it would just serve to remind them that they wanted to return the item for some reason.
I leave feedback 7 days after an item is delivered or when the buyer leaves feedback.
Just doesn't jive with me to leave feedback if a transaction is not successful.
I never leave feedback at eBay.
To each there own
RIP, keets
I personally can't stand to be asked to leave eBay feedback by a seller. 98% of the time I'm going to do so, but on my own schedule. I sometimes dock a star for "Communication" when I get reminded. Put your desire for feedback in the listing itself, or maybe slip a note into the package (which I also find mildly annoying), but under no circumstances contact me after the sale to solicit feedback.
As you say, that's just me.
A buyer leaving feedback to a seller is being polite by letting the seller know that the item has arrived.

Excellent point. It brings closure to the transaction with a seller that you may want to buy from again in the future.

As a buyer, if I am at least reasonably happy I leave positive feedback.
As a seller I only leave feedback after the buyer does.
Sometimes I wonder why a seller doesn't give feedback? We usually ship $2000-$5000 items.
I sometimes wonder if The coin arrived as described but they are a bit unhappy with the purchase? Maybe they were unhappy with the luster? Perhaps they thought the coin would upgrade based on the pix but in hand.... no. Perhaps they had buyers remorse but no actual basis to return the item thus they took the responsibility?
On one particular transaction we didn't get feedback until the price of gold rallied a couple hundred dollars then he left a very positive feedback.
At the price range we sell I can't imagine that the buyer forgot he/she bought the coin and forgot to leave feedback?
I guess that is the advantage to selling at shows. At least for the moment Everyone walks away happy?
If nothing else, they probably both walk away alive?
yeah, the tracking wouldn't tell me that.
True, but the tracking info indicates that as well. Sometimes a buyer needs time to evaluate a coin (or any other purchase) prior to deciding whether they're satisfied. I also figure that the buyers who leave feedback of their own volition will generally be the ones giving me the highest ratings. I don't want to prod people who may be vaguely dissatisfied. Also, as stated above, I hate being prodded, and I treat others accordingly.
I most always leave feed back ... not so true on the other end though.
It should be a normal and human action to leave feedback no matter how watered down or insipid. I can understand if someone is unhappy with a purchase and has decided not to return it, to absorb what was to them not a good purchase. If a quality item is sold at a fair price it should be the normal thing to do. Just a "thanks" would suffice. Once I had a buyer who left positive feedback within hours of the purchase, I hope they are ok.
Once I open the package and examine the merchandise, I usually leave feedback. If I wait, I sometimes forget.

Tracking won't tell you if the buyer is happy with the product. Common courtesy seems to be at a premium in todays society.
I'm not sure the presence or absence of feedback tells me that either. About 40% of buyers leave feedback for me, 99.99% positive. Only 0.3% of coins get returned despite free returns. So...what have I learned about the other 59.7% of coins?
And the poster didn't say that feedback would let you know the buyer was happy. The poster said that he would be letting the seller know that the item arrived.
the only time I don't leave feedback is if I am unhappy with the purchase, but simply not worth the hassle of returning.
For example, I recently purchased an early large cent in a TPGS holder. When I received the coin, there was a small green spot on the obverse. I had downloaded the pics from ebay, so I thought maybe I just missed it - my fault, However, upon close inspection there was a small circle that could be seen in the photo where the green spot was, It seemed pretty clear to me the seller photoshopped it to cover it up. Trying to be reasonable, I figure the seller would be better off with no feedback vs. a neutral or negative - although sometimes I wonder if that is the best course of action, e.g., if they are doctoring photos, maybe they should be called out so other buyers can be aware...

I'm comfortable transferring money from PayPal to my bank account after receiving positive feedback on an item. I have never had a Buyer change his/her mind after leaving positive feedback. When I don't receive, I generally wait the 14 days before transferring.
I leave feedback as soon as the item comes in (not always a coin). As soon as I leave the feedback I hide the transaction so I don't see it when I'm checking on things I've bid on or that haven't come in yet. It only takes a second, doesn't cost me anything and lets them know I am aware of them. I add sellers of any new purchase to my watched seller list to see if they have anything new and if within a couple of weeks, they don't, then I drop them off that list.
I just refunded a buyer for a coin I sold that I couldn't find. I used saved images, went to my SDB box at lunch when I was till gong into the office and then I don't know what happened to the coin. The buyer agreed to wait until I can check but I sold the coin in March and can't go back until at least August 1st. I even agreed to give them $50 extra for my error but then couldn't process it so I need them to contact me.
I'm wondering if this person didn't actually die.
I leave feedback when the item's paid for. If I get no feedback from the buyer, so be it. I could care less and never beg for it in any way. That which I do have is 100% positive, so there's that.
This is how I feel.
Nice thread! Well received!!! Will definitely read this member again!!!
AAA+++ CU’er!!!
I don’t sweat the small stuff. I leave positive FB to buyer when shipping label printed but could not tell you what pct left feedback to me. I definitely would not email a buyer begging for feedback. I will try take a look but zero returns so far this year works just as good.
I always leave feedback.... while I do not buy coins on ebay anymore, I have - and will - purchase other items I need from time to time (got a good replacement tea maker when mine died). Lets the seller know I received the product in good condition and happy with the item. Cheers, RickO
I always leave feedback after I receive the item. I do so within a few days.
As a buyer
I leave feedback when the item is received as a way to say Thank You and that the item was received
I routinely leave feedback as a buyer and a seller if things are satisfactory on my end. Too much of a hassle to worry about feedback on the other end.
Here's a warning parable for coin collectors...
Check their feedback left. If they’ve never left any don’t hold your breath.
Ya know...I think it has gotten worse over the years. As a seller / buyer I always leave feedback but maybe get feedback 75% of the time when I have sold things and maybe 90% of the time when I buy. I know what your thinking, 'Maybe the stuff you sold did not garner positive feedback so none was left.' but for slabbed coins accurately described? Or widget type items? Not much wiggle room for a SNAD!
I just think folks are not into feedback as much anymore due to everywhere you go someone is asking you to rate something and if they are like me they ignore most of it.

Whenever I sell something on eBay I leave feedback when the buyer pays for my item. If the buyer is not satisfied with the item then that's a separate issue to deal with. That being said about 10% or more of buyers never leave any feedback. I'm not happy about it but other then asking them for feedback I just move on. There was a time where I've hand written on the packing slip asking for positive feedback if they are satisfied with their purchase but that has never made a difference at all.

I have 8000 feedback on 20,000 sold items. I guess that means 12000 ebayers died.
