I purchased roughly 4200 1940's and 50's wheat cents.
I suppose I'll have to dust off my old cherrypickers book and see if there's anything worth looking for.
May take a while, I'll check back in with you all in about 10 years when I'm half blind, cross-eyed and babbling about strike vs. shelf doubling. ![]()

There must be a treasure in there somewhere....
Of course, they have likely been searched for any popular varieties...but there are minor ones that get overlooked....Good luck... Cheers, RickO

I'm mostly kidding, no way in hell I'm looking through all of these! I say that now, but will admit the first thing I did when I got them home was grab the loupe and check out the first 50 up close.

Image them all and you can put the loupe down and just look at your monitor?

Well, I think it was Stalin who said “Quantity has a quality all its own.“
Of course, I think he was speaking of war materiel, not old pocket change.
I once tried to search a bag of 5,000 wheats. I got to roughly number 500 before I gave up. Took me like 5 hand washings to get the dirty off my finger tips. Not for me, pal.
Early American Copper, Bust and Seated.
Local (mostly) bullion shop here in town had been tossing them into boxes for a few years now as they came in with peoples collections or estates. I'm sure they've been searched for the most part at some point but not by the shop other than look at the date and toss them into appropriate box.
There's got to be a 55 double die in there somewhere don't you think?

Good luck!
Two words: Latex gloves!
Good luck
Same advice as given to the guy with two gallons for cents saved in the 1980s: make a list of dates/mm that have known varieties and sort for those only. No need to scrutinize every cent other than to look at the date,
I think I see a nice 55 Double Die in there!
