What if 2021 Morgan and Peace dollars circulated?

What do you think if the Mint made 2021 Peace and Morgan dollars for circulation, on the small dollar planchets?

Would you like to use Morgan and Peace dollars for commerce again?

For myself, nah. That's been done. I'm kinda tired of the mint capitalizing on the old designs, albeit, classic, awesome ones.

I like collecting the old classics and having a modern version doesn't do anything for me.

No. Time for NEW coin designs, not recycled ones. In any event, how often do people use anything like a half dollar or dollar nowadays? It seems like quarters are the largest denomination coins in routine use.

It would probably not look good on the “golden” planchet. So no. The only way the half and up will circulate is: vending machines accept them and the US discontinues $1, $2, and $5 paper bills. But there’s no political will to do that.

No not really. How long are they going to make these dollars for circulation? They have vaults full they aren't using now

As soon as they end the dollar bill, yes. Otherwise there's going to be a lot of bank bags of them doing nothing.

If they were minted to circulate, I'd probably get a bunch go spend :)

Do you know how long it’s going to take me to make one into a P01

It would be awesome to wear it down to a PO01 and then get it slabbed with a TrueView :)

It would be great to do with a 2001 Buffalo dollar as well!

that would be a great effort to get back to money circulating altogether.

I like the big silver coins... and making the same design, smaller, just does not appeal to me. Sure, I am in favor of circulating dollar coins...but give us new designs with real art. Cheers, RickO

Just make them in silver and get rid of the twenty dollar bill. (They needn't be in the Morgan or peace design).

Those ATB quarters in silver all worth $5 each. Makes sense to me. Been a net spender most of my days.

It they were made I'd circulate some just for the reaction of the recipient. I'd much more like them made a commemoratives, full size, .999 Ag, dual 1921 - 2021 dated.

I would use them, until I got tired of explaining to the cashiers what they are and are legal tender.

Gotta eliminate the dollar bill before any dollar coin will circulate. It's way overdue. But yes-I'd like to see it happen.

People so rarely use coins anyways these days. They would just be hoarded. As long as there is a paper dollar, a dollar coin will never circulate.

I was looking for an article about cancelling the $1 bill and found an article on cancelling the $100 bill. The following was an interesting observation. Of courses, this means 70% are candidates to use this coin!

Have there been any recent efforts to discontinue the $1 bill? I know there was the effort to replace Andrew Jackson on the $20. I'm guessing any goal to discontinue the $1 bill would need to rejigger the Presidents on the remaining bills.

A December [2018] study from Pew Research Center found that about 30% of Americans use no cash at all on a weekly basis, suggesting that, in the digital age, cash is going out of style altogether.
