Nice Find

Over the weekend I attended an estate sale up north. Was high bid on a box of rolls and tubes of pennies and nickels. They ranged from BU late 40's, 50's, 60's and 70's penny rolls, some unc Jefferson nickle tubes and some rolls of older wheat and indian head pennies and buffalo nickels. Tubes were taped so I could not make out much on the older ones. Got the bunch for sixty bucks. Finally got through the older ones and had half dozen buffaloes that were AU50 or better, and actually got a decent 1859, two 1862s and this 1863 indian among them. A few nicks but great for it's age. My first week as a retiree so I needed something to do. :-)

Here were some of the others. The 1862 I thought was even better than the 1863, but on the reverse it looks like the strike was weak on the right side. The 1859 is worn but was just happy to get something back that far. Here are the two best steel pennies of the bunch and also here was the best of the buffaloes.
