$450 is about dealer bid right now on low end UNC $5 pieces. I think that's a fair price assuming it's original surfaces. It looks a little messed with, possibly cleaned from the obverse shot. I can't tell 100% from the images.

A raw, common date gold $5 with rim damage is worth melt or about $422. I'd offer $425 but this is a coin I wouldn't really want to buy.

If you're already spending $450 may as well spend $100 more and get a nicer piece. Gold is much more liquid in higher grades. It's so much easier to move good gold.

I would call the local B&M. Ask what they would offer and offer that or a bit less. That coin would be more of a bullion play than a collector piece.

Why are you posting the same coin on the coin forum and the BST simultaneously?

It has rim damage so it is not nice in my opinion. It's a bullion coin.

I like gold coins, however, I would not purchase that coin...Rim damage, surface looks as if it has been harshly cleaned....Cheers, RickO
