Love this story of a woman who made her hallway floor out of pennies, a mosaic of red, RB, and Brown

Very cool how she used the different colored cents to make her patterns.
And wouldn't you know she is a coin collector too.

That is great looking!
Here's a warning parable for coin collectors...
From the pics it kinda looks like a real rug. That’s pretty cool😎
That's a beautiful work of art.
Sometimes, it’s better to be LUCKY than good. 🍀 🍺👍

Cool project. I wonder if she lacquered the coins to keep their color over time? I’m not artistic enough to do something like that.
She did a great job with that. Good talent
Way cool! I would like to have a floor like that.
Nice!
Tremendous hard work and talent on display there! I hope she treated the surfaces of all those cents prior to making the flooring, otherwise she is likely to have a brown metallic rug soon.

Wow! I wonder how long it took her to complete it? Very talented

Neato!
Nope, not a rug, she's applying grout. That bottom edge is a piece of molding. Nice design. I'm impressed. Peace Roy

I have a bunch of boxes full of cents to do a similar project at my place. Somehow, there's always something more important to do than gluing pennies to the floor. I'll get around to it eventually.
@tomb, once they're in place and grouted, they're usually covered with clear epoxy. I imagine they'll stay the same color for a reasonable amount of time.
For my floor I plan on including a few 1943 steelies and a few wheat-cents. There might even be a handful of IHC's and maybe a single well-circulated flying eagle....... just in case any numismatists wander in.
That is really neat! I wonder how many penney's it took to do this?
So how would one get the grout off the copper?
That’s going to be fun to clean

Some expert collector should tell her to NEVER clean it.
This was a really popular idea at one time. A couple years ago it was possible to buy (overpriced) sheets of pennies (yeah, cents - whatever) on backing, all ready to go. I don't see any on eBay now, but I imagine they're available somewhere.
If you want to do it one at a time you usually glue each one down to the floor and then grout in between, just like you would for tile. After that, you wipe the excess grout away with a damp sponge. After everything is dry you usually cover everything with a layer of clear epoxy - like a bar counter project. The grout application and wiping usually reduces everything to a "cleaned" state with lots of hairlines and such, but it doesn't matter. Most people aren't down there with a loupe checking them out.
Folks who do designs usually artificially tone the cents prior to placing them.
Nice, sure looks like a lotta work !!!
I delivered the Lincolns for her project....
.

I have seen the floor project before, but that dude and the van.... well...Cheers, RickO
Nicely done! Showing pride in workmanship and subtly sharing her hobby. It looks like she used a few steel cents in the corners of the second-to-outermost border.

Why don't you count them and let us know?
She said she used dimes in those corners.
Lance.
If she would tell me how many rows there are and how many in a row.........I would.

Glad it's not a Guess the Grades thread!
Given that the texture from raised devices really isn't that thick, I'm betting that is going to be one slick floor with the wrong shoes or if it ever is wet.
This would be better under glass on top of an office desk.
I hope you don't have an optical computer mouse.

I use a laptop with touch pad, but if you have a mouse pad I don't think it would make a difference.
Hmmm... Just gave me some crazy ideas.
