Opinions on this 1917 Walker...

I thought this Walker would look good in my Dansco type set. The surfaces appear nice, and I put it around XF--but then again, I don't know Walkers. What do you think?

I like the look. Nice and original.
Looks perfectly "honest" to me, and XF-40 seems like an accurate grade.
Not enough for XF...VF35
Nice looking coin
Nice coin and I am in the VF camp ... VF-35,

Beautiful coin!! Left breast outline looks complete enough for XF40 in my opinion.
These are really tough to find so problem-free. So close to 40. Its a keeper!
Looks to be right on the line between VF35/XF40. Perfectly original, beautiful coin.

Very nice! I'm in the 35 camp!

Nice coin! 35
35-40, I can’t decide. I would not argue with either.
Vf.
Tough call between 35 and 40. I don't see 40 as unreasonable. Terrific coin at the 35 grade level and makes 40 in my view given the look and level of detail.

Walkers were circulating when I was a kid. I would have gone berserk if I had run across this coin, of course that would have been impossible barring someone "cleaning house". Really nice coin. Thanks for sharing. You have a good consensus here regarding the grade.
Nice looking coin!
I'll go xf 40 as well. Cool coin
Here is a 40 graded by our host.
Looks VF 30 to me.
Sometimes, it’s better to be LUCKY than good. 🍀 🍺👍

Thanks for all the comments. Whatever the technical grade, it should look good in my Dansco! I did compare it to the XF40 on Coinfacts, and it looked broadly comparable, but maybe not quite. Plus I thought the surfaces seemed above average for the other ones I'd seen. I wanted an early date for the set. This is the Coinfacts 40:

Cool way to fill a Dansco BTW, using a nice early circulated walker rather than a higher-grade later date. You've got me to thinking.
Definitely has "the look" but not quite XF IMO.
I think it’s a nice wholesome looking circulated example, without looking at anything else I’d say VF 35. Nice coin, stick it in that Dansco if the look matches what you’re going for. Thanks for sharing, that look is pleasing.
PS Just read, yours has nicer appeal than that CoinFacts 40 referenced above.
If I had to pay "XF40" cash for your coin I would without hesitation.

That's the way I like 'em....
35?40? Don't know but a great looking early Walker.
I think it's beautiful.

Great coin.
My experience is that in this grade much tougher than AU/MS.
I love it!
Solid 40+ IMO.
Great looking coin.
Exactly like I like them.
I’m at 35 also.
Nice coin as it is, but I would LOVE to have a mm on it, D or S, obverse or reverse, doesn’t matter.
VF35...
Clean surfaces with no distractions. Nice vf!
That is a great looking Walker, and will be perfect for an album... My first impression was VF35....Cheers, RickO
35 for sure but SUPER for a Dansco !!!!!!!!

Or Whitman...or Library of Coins. I agree that it is well suited for a album of the collector's choice.

I'd want twice that for mine IF I was selling.
Nice VF 35
Should look great in the Dansco album
Nice. Those are dang hard to find in nice circ xf. Or vf.
35 here
To pile on with the others, VF35.
I would rather have a 35 looking like your coin than a 45 with problems
Congratulations
I would say a thirty five. Nice the way it is. A keeper.

I thought VF, too, and the look of countless coins in folders. it seems to be "THE" grade for what collectors put together, high enough to see most detail and low enough to be affordable.
Really great eye appeal and surfaces on that coin. To me, a nearly perfect circulated example.
I also thought 35. But the more you examine the coin, more detail pops up.
.................at least for me.

VF30 and a very nice one at that.
Very nice type coin and I'm leaning VF-35. That's the way they should all look after 100 years in circulated condition. If this coin had been blast white, I would have run out of puke pails!
