Why would anyone buy this?
I just don't understand the reasoning here. If melt value is $2.38, why pay $12.95 plus $4.46 shipping? What I am missing?

Not sure why anyone would buy that particular hunk of junk, but over the years I have asked myself why would anyone collect that or this several times and I come up with only one really good answer.
There is always someone to collect almost anything. Personally I don't shake my head at "Whay would you collect that" because I WOULDN'T anymore. I think it's fabulous that there are people that have found something, anything that they like to collect.
We all have our likes and dislikes.

That one goes in the melt pile.
If you want to be creeped out, look at the face close up.
Great transactions with oih82w8, JasonGaming, Moose1913.
Maybe they see an "S".
Not always with coins, but in the past I've bought some appealing (to me) collectibles that no one seemed interested in. Hence purchased cheaply. Then lo and behold years later someone would come by at my yard sale or if I took said item to a shop I would be offered a reasonable price for the item and profit would be made. You just never know what will peak someones interest or when a market will develop.
@ms70... Wow.. I see what you mean.... As to the quarter, no reasonably informed collector would buy it....However, there are those individuals that will think it can be restored, and others with no logical reason at all... let's see if it sells. Cheers, RickO
