Should PCGS change the way they are grading GSA's

I know that this is a subject that has been brought up before but maybe with the new leadership maybe a change can be made, as there have been other changes made over the last year or so. I know it would be copying what two services ATS are doing but can we just get a band around the GSA holder instead of it being crammed into a huge piece of plastic. The biggest and most important benefit of doing this is that the GSA still fits in the GSA box. I have talked to a lot of other collectors about this and the fact that a PCGS graded GSA not fitting in the OGP is by far the biggest complaint. I'm not really trying to push the Kool-Aid here but I would rather send GSA's to PCGS than to the other two services, however I do not do so because of the holder that they are put into. If our hosts can change this part of their grading service I think the change would weigh heavily in their favor also. If it is not asking too much it would be great to be able to send the GSA's in for grading with other non-GSA coins.

All My personal coins are pcgs/cac (call it koolaid if you want) But I don't like the entombed process for gsa's at pcgs, and I prefer the NGC's process on these!

Wish PCGS would do something different here

I actually like the PCGS way of doing it. Those dang GSA's will crack if you look at them wrong!

You should allow a third option in your poll---"Allow the submitter to choose the option."

    Excellent point.

    I'd leave them alone.

I just had 5 GSAs graded and just cracked them out. I didn’t want the big holder wrapper for sure but I’m not entirely sure I want the belly band, either. I figured for my purposes, having them freed was good enough.

I have quite a few in the GSA holders that I picked up years ago.... have not submitted them. If I do though, I would prefer them with the band. Cheers, RickO

I have only cracked one GSA out. Use it as an example of "Original surface" for comparo's.
Personally I like the waist belt.

I like it just the way it is

@PerryHall That would not be a bad idea just as long as it could be listed clearly on the submission form.

@amwldcoin I agree that the current way of holdering does protect the GSA holder itself from damage.

It is a little suprising to me that there are so many votes to leave it as is. Not once have I heard anyone tell me in person that they preferred the way that it is currently being done. It's nice to hear the pro's and con's though.
The biggest downfall to me is that it can not be kept in the the packaging. This causes a few problems such as taking up more storage space especially since the slab they currently go into is nearly as thick as 2 gsa boxes. If you store them separately then is there a higher chance that the boxes get lost, damaged, or accidentally thrown away?

In addition to the increased storage bulk, you have to look through two layers of plastic to study the coin. One layer is bad enough.
