I basically collect 1878-S VAMs
When checking eBay for 1878-S VAMs I happened to see this NGC 25th Anniversary Black Retro that did not have the printing "NGC 25th Anniversary" below the paper insert.
Anyone have any info on the 25th Anniversary Retro Black and why no printing on some of them?

The black retro started as a 25th anniversary special but then they continued to use them afterwards (and removed the 25th anniversary text).

I love the black holders, especially for toned silver and all gold. I wish PCGS would consider it.
Coin looks legit. You could call them at 1-800-NGC-COIN, they might know.

The retro holders are produced whether or not it's a anniversary. They come in other colors too.
I like the black for it provides contrast to the coin and shows it off!

I would love to have "One" of the slabs pictured that says Struck @ West Point Mint 2020 (W) Eagle S$1 Early Release MS70-Sample-000 for my sample collection!
