The power of suggestion. Ebay

I am amazed at how much this seller is able to get out of a roll of silver dollars with a couple possibly special coins on the ends. Do the people that bid on these believe these are original unsearched rolls that may contain thousands of dollars in super rare and valuable coins? Maybe an uncirculated 1878-CC Trade dollar roll. Check out all of his other rolls up for auction. This person is probably getting rich.

What amazes me is how they come up with the setup placed in old looking rolls that appear to be original.

I never buy or monitor that stuff but wonder what they are getting. Do you have any specific examples on realized with link, etc.
Could see that in early days of eBay but would be amazed that technique working now.
For me any roll I buy I need to see ALL of the pieces both obv and rev.
I bought a roll some time ago but not from this seller. It was a peace/Morgan one. It was partly for fun, partly as an experiment, and part naivety. It was basically 16 1922-1925 peace dollars around ms62-64 and a few ms63 morgans. Clearly it wasn’t worth it but if silver goes up much more I could break even. Sometimes you have to outlive your mistakes.
Wow... the link in the OP closed at $2550....Not a bad profit.... but sad for the buyer....
Cheers, RickO
They're probably hoping to uncover something big.
I have never believed in the whole "unsearched roll" claims! And never had the curiosity to buy them.

The sellers listing includes Trade, Morgan, and Peace Dollars. If as the seller claims that the roll is unsearched, how does he/she know besides the two trade dollars shown what else is in the roll.
Do old rolls of silver dollars even exist? If they do which is doubtful the likelihood of finding two trade dollars in one roll would be close to zero especially uncirculated ones.
There aren’t original rolls of Morgans or Peace dollars. The closest thing are rolls made by banks later (50s?) from bags. Probably ones located near casinos I’d guess.
He could buy a roll of circ buffs (CDN bid $20) populate a new roll with a couple of them plus the rest early date Jeff’s picked out of a roll from the bank, expertly wrap - presto nice profit.
If you look at his silver lots he gives actual wt in Troy lb. From that you can figure....
Yes I guess some people buy that. They don’t know how convert lb to oz or what ASW per oz is on junk silver. They probably don’t understand the basic math on such a deal.
It gets me when somebody quotes a shop $ per face value junk silver - me I will convert that to ASW x silver spot = BV. Then get real pct over BV. That’s what matters.
I know of someone, who knows of someone, who knows a guy who said he bought a machine to create those shotgun rolls and uses it to sell cent rolls with Indian Heads on the end (and maybe a Flying Eagle every once in a while). The guy says it's the best investment he ever made.
I wouldn't be able to sleep at night, but I do wonder how he avoids negative feedback.
There are many roll crimping machines out there. Some are manual, some are automatic. Most aren’t too expensive.
I think most of the feedback isn’t negative because it’s very hard to prove outright fraud. People understand gambling and assume they just didn’t get three liberty bells.
To me, a seller doing this is committing fraud by misrepresentation. Again, most of it would be unprovable from the buyer’s point of view. The seller will just have to live with themselves. I haven’t lived as long as some on this board but I have lived long enough to know that these people generally get their comeuppance in some manner. They don’t generally believe they deserve it, either.
Mehh hav a bunch of these rollers, picked them up at an auction for a closed down bank about 15 years ago. Just ethically cant force myself to deceive people like this. Wouldnt be able to sleep at night.
