Did they stop sports or the economy for the Hong Kong flu that began in 1968? That was very similar to this. They had Woodstock in 1969 FFS, What does that tell you?

No opinion either way, though I wish all of this would just go away. (not MLB or NFL, but COVID-19)

while I enjoy a good game (football, baseball, basketball and even curling) as much as anyone, I think this current situation points out what fools Americans have been to shove plateloads of money into the pockets of these players.

They actually do very little (generally speaking) for the country. Yes, I agree there are a few out there that have done a great deal for their communities, but by and large these are just people that were good at a sport and they were raised to superstar status when the going was easy. Now there is not a whole lot of use for someone that can hit a ball 450 feet when ERs are full of sick people.

They should go back to making $100k a year as rookies and get cost of living increases after that.

Okay, well curling might be lucky to make minimum wage, but ...

    Just my humble opinion.

To keep it numismatic: Will MLB have a season this year? Flip a coin! B)

Well, the NBA commemorative coin is going to be released soon, right? I don’t think it’s the coin for me but at least it’s a different design.

Given that these leagues generate around $5-$10B a year whom do you propose should get that money if not for the players?

If people quit throwing away their money on games, gear and all the money making garbage these leagues use to generate money, it won't have to go anywhere. It will be used in elsewhere. Sorta like hollyweird, if no one goes to the movies, they will stop making garbage movies.

I do not follow any ball sports.... I just consider them a waste of time (my opinion)...If they would just leave the darn ball alone, there would be no issue. Nothing against the players, they are using their talents/ability to make a living...but such a boring thing to watch.... Cheers, RickO

My wife has often said she would like to see no sports taking place, just to see what it would be like.

It has happened and to be honest I do not really miss sports very much. Plenty of other things to do.

HK killed 1M worldwide, 100k in US when we had a much lower pop. It is different, but how is corona worse?
