That beautiful toning!
Hi guy's. I was in my workspace yesterday, taking photo's of my coins and came across an old knife I had for many years. It was funny I noticed it while trying, I emphasize on the word trying, to take photo's of my toned Jefferson. This knife also so happened to be made purposely of a rainbow appearance. Which brings me to this thread. Can you guy's post other items, other than coins, that appear to have some sort of toning? Thanks guy's 🌈

Looks like some of the toning I've seen on coins.
Is that a Taco Bell napkin knife?
Cool coloration!

That is a cool spoon. If you don't mind me asking what did you pay for it or what do you think its worth now?
I like the spoons
I once had a 1000 ounce silver bar put away for at least 15 years and when I 'unearthed it' and sold it, it was covered in monster rainbow toning.
I should have taken a picture of it.
Definitely, a thing of beauty.

Sort of like color case hardening on guns. It is very attractive.

Its craxy cool how those sequences match on the coins just awesome.
Looks black, huh? You are currently looking at the bottom of a leading edge wing insulator that was used multiple times on the space shuttle Endeavour. It is made of an especially heat resistant alloy. My understanding is that on the underside of the insulator was a special fabric layer to which were attached the heat shield tiles.

Even though the heatshield tiles worked really well, needless to say, the leading edge of the space shuttle would get extremely hot, roughly 2,750 degrees Fahrenheit. In the picture below, e.g. the INSIDE of the wing insulator, you can see how the differential heating caused the inside of the insulator to get rainbow "toning". About 1 to 2 o'clock to the quarter you'll see some of the toning (that would be just inside the leading edge of the wing), and about 7 o'clock to the NASA logo you'll see some more rainbow toning at the tail end of the piece, where another piece would be interlinked on top of it.

Here's another spoon that was my great aunt's birth spoon well over 100 years ago. Probably cleaned long ago but sports very attractive coin toning.
