Should have kept my 90mm
Going to need a smaller lens or a taller copy stand for this one.
Finally got my new purchase from the UK.
This sucker is heavy. I put an Ike in there for reference.

I've busted out a regular tripod a time or two, but it's a PITA and not really all that stable. Cool medal.
Cool Medal!
That room goes on for days! Very nice medal. Peace Roy

It's amazing how much detail the die maker was able to put in there. It looks like you could just walk right in.
Flatwoods always posts the coolest medals!
Altho Stephanie has some amzzing ones too...

Wow, what's the name of that medal?
I'll give you a link to some history on the Basilica of Saint Paul Outside the Walls.
This medal was made by Ignazio Bianchi ( one of my favorites) and a great talent.
The medal is dated 1854. The basilica was re consecrated in 1855 after being rebuilt from a fire in 1823.
Almost 1700 years of history here. I love the history and the architecture of these places.

Mind boggling shots!!!
Looking at this medal with a 20 power glass is amazing.
As Flatwoods can attest, you just keep seeing more and more.
I have always enjoyed @JRocco example.
The detail is pretty amazing.
Hey Flatwoods, look around for this Pope Pius IX.

Another piece by Bianchi. The detail is just as strong but the piece is a little more than half the size. I would guess about 50mm. I need to dig out the camera and take some pics of this one too someday, my older pics are well just old.
I have it somewhere.
@JRocco
I almost feel bad for doing this. Almost.
But you really should dig out the camera and take some pics.
I know you have some really cool pieces. I'd love to see them.
This is where enjoying landscape photography really helps. I've got a 180mm and 105mm macro for most of my coin stuff, but when something significantly bigger comes along, I've got a 24-70 and 28-300 at the ready.
Now that is some GREAT pics!
Great pics and awesome medals. Love the detail and luster.

An astonishing feat of engraving. I'm in awe!
That's some mighty high praise on picture taking coming from you.
That medal is just plain bananas. Thanks for posting.
Oh, and you don't need a shorter lens, you need a full-frame camera.

NOOOOOO!!! I will not Google, I will not Google.
Thanks Flatwoods,
I know you enjoy these as much as I do. They are real works of art. The level these engravers are is scary.
You need magnification to see and read the clear lettering around the arches as well as under the arches
which is hard to even see let alone photograph. Truly amazing pieces.
Yeah I do need to grab some pics and you need to continue to show yours.
What about 9mm?
Absolutely gorgeous!

Here 's my 46m Bianchi medal of Pope pius IX
I bought a larger size before (maybe a 90mm) but I received a refund from the seller stating he was out of town for a few months and cannot access the medal from safe box to mail to me.
Wow, there’s not much I can add that hasn’t already been said but the detail on that is just incredible. It’s almost a sculpture more than a medal.
Incredible detail.... on the enlarged pictures, it looks as if one could just walk in...What was the process to make these? Must have been major pressure for that kind of detail.... Years ago, at coin shows in the PNW, I often asked dealers if they had any of these....none did. Cheers, RickO
