HELP, Please!

Is anyone aware of any computer programs that can either:
1) Compare images to determine if they are identical; or
2) Measure and make calculations of measurements on images?

Please keep in mind that, while I understand math pretty well, I am not to be confused with an engineer.

Thanks in advance. Rick

I googled it and was presented a number of different options. But I've never used any of them, so I can't recommend.

I think there's a free online thing called Tineye.

Great transactions with oih82w8, JasonGaming, Moose1913.

To be very accurate you need a crisp, high resolution image and a known in it. If it’s a coin image you might use the holder, sticker, or anything in the image that you can determine it’s exact measurement. For instance, if the coin is in a 2in flip you can use standard image software to figure out its length in the image and then deduce other lengths from that. Angles, depths, and variations in lenses make this a difficult task to be very accurate in. You might also try overlaying a semi transparent image of a known coin over the other. Again, angles make this tough.

Commercial software is available that can measure but for the accuracy you likely need I wouldn’t fully trust it. Depends on how accurate you need to be. I used to use different techniques including the two above to shoot items inside of bombs from a distance so I may be a bit touchy on the accuracy thing.

Is your objective to determine authenticity of a coin? Or something else? Cheers, RickO

I use Blu Beam Revue to mark up construction drawings. You need a reference to calibrate the measuring tool. I think there is a demo version.
