Well, traded my Saint off and acquired a cool doily gold cac due to being more in line with my set I am building... which is all Liberty $20’s with some added bells and whistles...

See the set below as it is progressing in the order that I acquired them!

Nice coins... I wouldn't mind attaching the pictures of the 1866-s among others to my comments made on another thread that asked the question about why so many stunning coins exist in OGH... Your pictures illustrate my argument as to the grading of gold 27-30 years ago.

    Thanks for sharing the pictures

Coinkat - feel free to post any of these pics in the OGH post... I thought about doing so as well, but feel free to use any of these examples as I think they also prove your point and match your topic post as well...

...with the close up pictures of each coin... I would be curious from everyone on WHICH COIN IS YOUR FAVORITE? WHICH IS THE HIGHEST "QUALITY" FOR THE GRADE? and WHY???

(fyi... I like thoughts and opinions of all; good or bad b/c it helps me to learn and grow in my knowledge as I build and adapt my set/ collections)...

    Great examples!

Leeroy- Judging from the close ups I really like the 1860s. For a VF coin it has no distractions . It’s amazing how her soft metal surfaces have survived all this time without a major hit. If I had to pic a favorite.... I think I’m going with the 1879s. I love the frosty look With the luster popping out .

Me too, Crusty! I agree on the 79-s and also agree on the 60-s as well!

    Preciate it

  • LeeroybrownLeeroybrown Posts: 490 ✭✭✭✭✭

Anybody have a favorite thats not the 1879-S ???

Bet you’re having fun chasing these

  • LeeroybrownLeeroybrown Posts: 490 ✭✭✭✭✭

    Oh yeh, pocketpiececommen,

    It’s definitely a challenge!

Not many exist and when they do, you gotta be quick to catch em!

I have been fortunate, though that a few people have appreciated what I am trying to build and reached out to me with a piece for purchase! Those situations are always so appreciated!

...and the search goes on! : )

I like the 1890-CC $20 because it has relatively few abrasions, hits, and marks for the grade. And it is a Carson City piece!

I hear ya Bloodman! It is a very clean piece for sure. Better than most all circ pieces I have seen.

There is just something about all the different boxes checked that is so very cool:

    •gold 👍
    •big coin ($20) 👍
    •original surfaces 👍
    •old holder 👍
    •gold sticker 👍
    •undergraded 👍
    •history preservation 👍
    etc, etc, etc...

...just so many cool factors IMO.
