Picked this up in my neighborhood’s give a book, take a book box. David’s Silver Dollar, published 1940. The harrowing tale of a boy who receives a silver dollar for his birthday and cannot decide what to purchase with it. After much deliberation, a puppy is acquired. I hope one day that my daughter asks whether a puppy was a sensible purchase based on whatever date and mintmark was on the dollar.

Fellas, leave the tight pants to the ladies. If I can count the coins in your pockets you better use them to call a tailor. Stay thirsty my friends......

That book still has its dustcover after 80 years!

That is great... I was unaware of any children's coin related books... :) Cheers, RickO

no matter the date or mint mark a dollar could never give you the unconditional love a puppy.
