Very meaty example! My guess is even better color in hand.

You might make me abandon my MS set of Barber dimes and refocus on my XF-AU set again.

very nice, my best is [self graded in 2007] a 53 also.

nice tougher date, mintage of 1,000,000.

Per Lawrence, "one of my favorite dates. Demand is so strong that you are lucky to find one in any grade above Good on the bourse floor."

He also says that the XF-AU is an R-5

He does list an RPD with the final digit doubled (Breen).

I have personally never seen any doubling on the date on Barber Dimes past 1908.

It has a pleasing look. I usually don't care for the low AU grades but I like that one.
Not that I don't like the low AU grades, I just see a lot of coins in that range that don't appeal to me.

I know exactly what you mean. This is an older grading and would probably go 55 now.

I thought 1908 was the last year for RPD's, as the dates were added to the master dies starting in 1909...

I checked my log and I have a listing for a 1909 MPD: 9 UND BUST
But I admit that my log is from 2002, so I'll have to find it and see.

Also, realize that Lawrence references Breen, and we know that Breen never met a fact that he couldn't make up
