This is what Gov.Wolf of Pa. said today. It does not look good the A.N.A. show

Sixth, limitations on large gatherings unrelated to occupations should remain in place for the duration of the reopening process.

Does or does not look good?
Great transactions with oih82w8, JasonGaming, Moose1913.
"Unrelated to occupations"? Isn't just about everything related to occupations?

That does not say much.
Typical political word salad.

PA does not know how to communicate clearly.
Only "life sustaining" businesses are allowed to be open. You know like...beer distributors.
All other must stay home.

What you say above is >> currently << true. The item was taken out of context. The Governor was stating what the standards >> would be <<, once there is a reopening in the state, which is being planned but has not commenced:
-Our approach will be data driven and reliant upon quantifiable criteria to drive a targeted, evidence-based, regional approach to reopenings in Pennsylvania.
-We will put forth guidance and recommendations for employers, individuals, and health care facilities and providers for assured accountability as we reopen.
-Reopening necessitates that adequate personal protective equipment and diagnostic testing are available.
-Reopening requires a monitoring and surveillance program that allows the commonwealth to be deploy swift actions for containment or mitigation.
-Protections for vulnerable populations must remain steadfast throughout the reopening process, such as limitations on visitors to congregate care facilities and prisons.
-Limitations on large gatherings unrelated to occupations should remain in place for the duration of the reopening process.
Actually that makes sense....parties and casual gatherings would still be limited, but a coin show would be for business/occupation...attended by customers.....Cheers, RickO
I hope things get better by the time of the ANA World's Fair of Money. I am looking forward to the awards luncheon.

Me too. Which one are you getting?
Without disclosing my party affiliation...
I was a bit hesitant about Wolf at 1st but I've kinda warmed up to him.
He's a pretty smart fellow (Dartmouth, MIT) & one of very few politicians I can actually listen to without retching.
I also, sort-of, trust him to make the right decision as the Money Show date approaches.
We're having a lot fewer cases in Da-Burgh than over the mountain.

Perhaps the ANA should move the venue for their show to a state that will be open for business.

I shouldn't have opened this thread.
The thread title brought a smile.
My first Summer ANA is in jeopardy but to keep it in perspective for me, 3 grandkids had their ONLY graduations canceled.

I know a meat-packing plant in South Dakota that might be available!
The ANA is a huge show that is booked and planned years in advance. I do not think that it could be moved on short notice. I sure hope that it takes place. I have been to 50 consecutive ANA shows.

You know any large Convention Centers that are available on short notice?
Member ANA, SPMC, SCNA, FUN, CONECA
I don't think the show is going to happen. How many of you got Harry Laibstein's response to the ANA in his email blast?
Not entirely sure I will get it yet, but last year I got one for the best Palau set.

This is what comes from not sending nice coins to politicians !!
Next they will want to hold events at places like Loring AFB in Maine where people can spread out by at least 10 yards and have as little contact as possible, like pay for your purchases before you leave, is this what things are coming to?
I look at his inventory almost daily but do not get his email. What did it say?

Visiting your health care provider
On public transportation
Interacting with customers/clients at essential businesses
Feeling sick, coughing or sneezing

Keep at least 6 feet between you and others if you must go out
Don't attend or host large gatherings
Avoid using mass transit
Coronavirus (COVID-19) is a new virus that causes respiratory illness in people and is extremely contagious. Symptoms include fever, cough, shortness of breath, and diarrhea.
Until they good a solid anti-viral or vaccine, I don't see any large events happening for some time. It's just science and math. Once that happens, I'm all in for reopening things, though I think some could happen if good testing and tracking is in place before a solution is found.
Would you drive on a stretch of highway where about 1 out of 5 of people would get badly injured, and 1/30th of them die? Oh and the places and causes of injury/death change at random. plus the odds increase the more people drive on this highway. I think I'd pass.

If there's a show, I'm going. Not that I'd go if it were stupidly dangerous, but they're more likely to cancel than I am.

Copied from his long email:
The Immediate Future of Coin Shows
The ANA contacted me last week to see if I would still be coming to the show in August. It will always be important to attend the ANA show. It’s expensive, but I can factor in the costs. But when those costs include the exposure afforded by air travel and public transportation, hotel living, eating out all week, and contact with thousands of strangers, while a pandemic rages across the county, even a die hard road warrior like me must take pause. As I pointed out to the young women on the phone, I’ll be 63 when that show takes place. I said, "bet against my attendance." In fact, I said "bet against the show taking place at all." I’m not sure I need to point this out, but a lot of people in our industry, both dealers and collectors, are over 60. It’s also no secret that coin dealers are not the fittest group. I’m guessing a lot of compromised people attend coin shows. Until this really clears up, most of them will stay home. The other factor that seems pertinent is habit. I have been saying I needed to do less shows for years. But changing one's ways is easier said then done. But if the pandemic keeps me away all year, I may see it in a different light. That feeling is already germinating as the re-engineered business is taking off. A close friend recently challenged me on that point. She said, “No, I don’t think so Harry, as soon as it's safe, you will be back at every one of them”. "No," I said, lacking full confidence, "I’m going to do fewer shows when this is over." An incredulous look followed. I replied, "I expect I will do less shows and or less days at each show." She still wasn’t convinced. While I can’t say for sure what I will and won’t do in the future, I do feel my habits regarding shows will be changed. Addictions are hard to break, but when forced, new habits form. You, my faithful newsletter readers, will be the first to know.
