From an artistic standpoint it's a challenge, but from a coin perspective I like it. Oozes originality!
First, my preferences are like that of @ricko . While I don’t hate it, I don’t like it, as others above have said. It’s not for me, but I’ve learned there are two large basic camps: one camp really like coins like this, the other camp, somewhat more silent and perhaps a bit intimidated, prefers their 20th century silver coins to be close to blast white, with super high luster. No one is “right”, and no one is “wrong“.
Second, I chuckle when the term “originality” is used. When I look at a coin being offered that has what I consider problems with eye appeal, the seller always says “but that shows originality”. But when I go to sell that same coin, all dealers say they have to offer much less due to the poor eye appeal!
Stay safe!

To me Silver from the 1800's and early 1900's should not be blast white, but I understand what you are saying.

If the premium was 10%, I would like it. Nothing special to warrant a lot of cash.
And if it was obtained at a discount of 15%, would you then love it, instead of just liking it at a 10% premium? I would think that the decision of liking or loving a coin comes first, and then based on that answer, one then determines how much one is willing to pay.

LoL. All these comments remind me of an ugly looking dog. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder! I, for one, like it. Esp. the color. The grade itself should make it desirable, no? Like I was saying about a dog with an unpopular face. We once bought a Husky with two different color eyes. My wife was against buying her from the get go. I talked her into keeping her. Years later, she fell in love with that dog more than me! Sorry to get off topic. Nice coin, dude.

I can't always be paid to love something. I do not fawn over toning.
Comments
Neither "love" nor "hate" is fitting in my view.
"like" suits me better.
Like is better than Hate.
S'alright. Not rare, so I'd probably pass.
I like it.
Great transactions with oih82w8, JasonGaming, Moose1913.
I will reserve comment on this one.
It's OK to say you don't like it really.
Hate it? How could anyone hate it? I love it!
I'm closer to the hate side of the spectrum, the way the toning goes across the cheek bothers my eye.

Never a slave to one plastic brand will I ever be.

Not a fan, but there are probably things I like that you don't. To each there own
I like it.
Not for me but to each his own. Part of the fun of numismatics
I'm happy that you're happy, but in truth I find the coin to have negative eye appeal.

I like the strike, but the color is a pass for me.

At first glance, I liked it right away.
The more I looked at it the less I liked it.
But now I am back to liking it.
I should have another cocktail.

Well... No sticker Jon....
However, the detail looks good and I like that prominent 'D' mint mark...just jumps out at the viewer...Cheers, RickO
I like the grade but the tone leaves something to be desired here. Jmo and fwiw
