So is this a genuine mint error 56-D penny? Capped die?

With some down time because the virus events I've been going through alot of misc. bags of pennies accumulated, some wheats, lots of canadians and just common memorials etc.. Found this one tonight, was about to chuck it in the damaged pile (ones that can't be run through coin counting machines) . Then I noticed the uniformity of the inner rim and slight concavity of the cent, could this be a capped die (if I've got the terminology right) ?

Looks more like it was at one time encased in a holder of some type, but I'm not a big error guy so hopefully someone else will chime in on it.

    Agreed!

Hmn, hadn't thought about that, maybe like a lucky cent type thing, could be.

Yep....Looks like a cent that was pressed into a holder....lucky cent or charm bracelet type bezel....Cheers, RickO

Not a "Broad struck"? :* Cool coin
Also, check under the 1 and 9 in the date for an "S". Another variety

"Jesus died for you and for me, Thank you,Jesus"!!!

    Agree - former encased cent.

No mint error could mimic that effect.

PMD, the cent was pressed into a holder.
