    The cert number is taken from a genuine coin and then a counterfeit label is printed and encapsulated by the counterfeiter with the counterfeit coin. They used to take the cert numbers right from Heritage, and you could easily find a photo of the genuine slab/coin, but they have gotten slightly better at their craft.

    I bid on the coin and shilled it with another one of my accounts to a price well beyond its true value, even if it was genuine, so an unsuspecting buyer would not win it. I have messaged the seller, who I don't think was trying to rip anyone off. I think he just didn't know. I sent him a link to this thread as well.

    Don't think he's aware? Really, how hard is it to verify, at least closely, the Mickey Mantle Autographed baseball? Mantle sig is way off.
