1943 Half Dollar

I keep this 1943 Walking Liberty Half Dollar in my collection. Not a great value, very common date. Not much wear, but no luster at all. Is that normal for a coin which dit not circulate?

    What do the rest of your Walking Liberty halves look like? This coin looks like a decent XF/AU coin, and if it is similar in grade and appearance to the rest of your collection, I'd keep it as well. Such a collection would be less expensive and still nice to look at. And - you can appreciate it without having it entombed in a slab.

    The coin has wear because it did circulate. While many coins which have circulated still display luster, the appearance of your example isn’t out of the ordinary.

    The coin has wear because it did circulate. While many coins which have circulated still display luster, the appearance of your example isn’t out of the ordinary.

    Agree. Also, the luster is 'subdued' due to the haze and patina it has.
    You generally see coins like this dipped or MS70'd to brighten them up, but many experienced numismatists prefer to see the 'original skin' that this one displays.

    ~$10-12, though I'm sure with some looking you can find one closer to melt, as most dealers wouldn't pull this one out an album to set aside - it would go in with the junk silver.

    It's one of my favorites together with the Morgan Dollar, both are accessible in matter of price.

    AU50/55 coin.
    Luster is average for a lightly circulated coin.
