NewP Bust Quarter for my Variety Type Set......LONG TIME FINDING!!

DIMEMANDIMEMAN Posts: 22,403 ✭✭✭✭✭

As many of you know I have been working on a Type Set that has nothing but Varieties in it for the past few years. I kind of have in my mind what Variety I want for most of the Type's. For the Bust Quarter (Small) later years I have always wanted the 1836 B3 late die state with the cracked Obv & Rev. I finally found one I like. As most collectors of these know that Bust Quarters are hard to find original and crusty. I have been looking for one like this for a LONG time. The reverse has a complete d/c rim to rim North & South and the obverse has multiple d/c's that can be seen in the big pic. The close up of the date is to show the East/West crack in the date. Thanks for looking and comments welcome. :)

Always looking for original, better date VF20-VF35 Barber quarters and halves, and a quality beer.

I've always loved these shattered die crack progressions. They have so much character.

I am continually amazed at the knowledge in this forum. Opening dimemans posts I am in awe of his eye for beauty and his additions to his collection. Now if he could only have that same eye for football teams. 😉

Really interesting die cracks Jon... I magnified the images and looked at all of them....Great addition to your set. Cheers, RickO

Nice example! 1836 is definitely a good year for die cracks (all five die marriages end up exhibiting fairly severe cracks). Evidently the mint must’ve done something wrong with the dies or the press to damage the dies so badly that year.
