    Looks greatly improved.

It does like quite a bit better.

Great improvement over 'as received'....I am sure it will get better. Love the gold Indians.... Cheers, RickO

If soaking in various solvents doesn't remove all the gunk you may need to take a toothpick and dig the gunk out of the crevices where it still remains.

Without directly asking the rude question of "how much did you pay?" (because I don't really care and it is irrelevant), I would ask "How much of an ugliness factor came into your savings on the coin?"

I can imagine that there wasn't much competition (if bidding) and seller had probably been trying to sell for awhile and wanted above melt but couldn't get much above it.....

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

Let’s just say I did okay.

I've taken toothpicks to many of these, and had some pretty darn high grades from PCGS come out as the result. I generally snap one in half, and use the smallest splinter that resulted from the break. It works great for getting the gunk out of the fine crevices.

Large cent collectors have long used thorns to clean dirt out of the crevices of coins that need conservation.

Round wooden toothpicks are a nice tool for touching or nudging debris. Sometimes I sharpen the tip, sometimes I crush the tip to form a mini brush. Peace Roy

I have a few cactus spines in my toolbox for that occasion. Cleaning gunk out of incuse lettering with one isn't so bad. Rose thorns work well, too.

Looking good. Are you going to get it slabbed? Looks like you may get an MS-61 or 62.

I'm going to submit it when I'm done. If it straight grades, it'll probably go AU-ish MAYBE 60. There were actually nice surfaces under the crud.

    Cheers

Looks a lot better... But I did notice some large spots or blotches on the reverse after it was dipped ???

Yep. A work in progress. They have diminished quite a bit since I began.

Those would certainly be ideal. But cactus needles aren't too common here in New England. I have looked.

Very nice. However I don't think it will straight grade and no chance at MS.

Just between us, maybe this post will be seen and it will be straight graded after all. ;);)

You're probably right, but I have seen worse straight grade.
