Lurker here. My one area of passion was Blue Ikes. I searched out the cream for years during the 90's -2000's. When it finally came time to getting some graded in the past few years, I found that PCGS really has no desire to give a damn about grading them consistently in the 67-69 region. I'll no longer submit as there is no rhyme or reason to the coins getting 68. I've made a bunch, but the crap you see on the market graded 68 are an embarrassment. It's just a series that gets and will continue to get no respect. NGC has stated that sentiment specifically. Love this board, so please don't ban me!

Right click on the original image and select "Open image in new tab". It should give you a much blown up image to look at.

Someone took much time and effort to convert an old LOC Morgan album into an Ike Dollar album, I can only imagine why someone would do this since surely an Eisenhower album would have been available somewhere. I thought what they had done was really clever and showed how resourceful some collectors can be, I placed the opening bid and was unchallenged.

I noticed that the beautiful 1971-D Ike posted by @ldhair has a neat little die dent on the obverse - it looks like there's an engorged tick on Ike's neck. As luck would have it, I found another one of my own, but had to wait a couple of weeks for the auction to end and the coin to arrive.
Variety hunters may have better luck looking for these in hand, as the dent is pretty shallow and I quickly discovered that it may not show up in a photo if the lighting is not right (that being said, I did find these two in photos). So there you have it, a new variety from this very thread.
An original Ike handed out by Ike himself. This one in particular was awarded in Paris France during the 1960 Paris Summit. Net circulating mintage is 709.
I like these coins because they are large, have a nice reverse, some have silver, and they make great gifts.

I never had much interest in IKE's but I do have one in my type set.
I have some in a dresser drawer. Was spending them until it became a hassle.
The roman numeral stamped on it is 1630. What does that mean?

This was one of the harder spots to fill in my ANACS photo certificate type set.
The only thing I can surmise from your images would be a clashed die. But I don't see any clashing.

Yes, but not just an ordinary die clash. When the dies clashed, they were misaligned by about 10%, which is pretty significant.
Before this coin was struck, the misalignment of the dies was corrected, but the misaligned die clash remains.

Anyone remember or know what the issue price was for the blue packs? How about the proofs?
If memory serves, the UNC's were $4 (?) and the proofs I am fairly certain were $10, which was a decent chunk of money in 1971.
