Not sure how I missed this before?
Bought this for the Jane Austin fans in my house but somehow failed to notice that Lizzie is engraved over another name...
Hettie...Hattie?
Wish I knew the story with this one 🤔

Maybe "Lizzie" was a new flame or something may have happened to "Hattie" that could not be helped, We will never know but the "Presenter" knows what happened and we will only be intrigued by it. Nice collectable piece!

I'm guessing someone placed an order and never came back to pick it up. The engraver then smoothed out the name and then reused it for another customer.

I do not know why any man would present this to a woman.
The first she would ask is about the other name.
This is better than doing a tattoo.

Most likely explanation. Never seen one like this.

In a jealous rage, Lizzie stole the token from Hattie, scratched out the name, and carved hers in its place... :o

The next night, Hattie went missing and was never heard from again... :'(

I think we should get 'Forensic Files' to investigate this... ;) They solve these major mysteries even after many years... check for DNA .... On a more serious note, a couple of the above scenarios seem logical...Cheers, RickO

Didn't she give her mother 40 wacks?

Coincidently I just finished reading Pride and Prejudice last night for the first time. I actually rather enjoyed it!
