Nat’l One Cent Day-Post a ‘Penny’

I ventured out of my primary collecting focus of Southern Gold last night and was the highest bidder on two 1943 Steel Cents via Heritage. One 1943 and one 1943-D. Both MS67+ CAC.

Pic doesn't show the large silver-colored discoloration over the date and right field. But . . .old alphanumeric ANACS . . . . a fairly high grade for them at the time . . . sort of a fun piece . . .
Thanks to Mike Kittle (Illini420) for this years ago.

BuffIronTail has it correct . . . but I am going to play along with what I can.
I just like the hard / wholesome / workhorses of the Huck Finn era (among others). Slid a few times across a counter in a general store for some penny candy. Given as change for a shot of whisky. Handed back as change for a haircut.

Following David . . . just not as nice a pic.

I didn't know you was married
I posted these two the other day a 1916 cent and a blank cent planchet... both in change. Cheers, RickO

It was a bit surreal (and somehow very inspiring) to wake up this morning to Jen Carfagno on The Weather Channel giving a shout out to National One Cent Day and then going on to describe both the obverse and reverse of a Fugio Cent, "the first U.S. one cent coin" in her words. I did double check to make sure I wasn't dreaming that one.

Note the prominence of the denomination on the “Wheaties” compared to the “Memorials.” This has led to at least three people excitedly telling me “I found a Penny that says ONE CENT on it!” Over the course of my numismatic career.
