I would havta think it's worth more than a "regular" 20-S.

I'd like to know who "Debris" is, though.

    Thank you

Next question: what was it struck through?

My vote is for a thread from a mop. Just a wild guess, of course.

Given the pressure involved, I'm gonna say wire. Nice error in a slab. Peace Roy

Great error! I’d say the debris was a piece of wire of some sort.

That is a cool struck through...and has seen a lot of commerce. Probably a wire of some sort...Cheers, RickO

I THINK YOUR RIGHT ABOUT IT PROBABLY BEING A WIRE OF SOME SORT

  • JBKJBK Posts: 16,472 ✭✭✭✭✭

The reason I don't think it was wire is that it does not seem as deep as it is wide. A wire would presumably be fully struck down into the coin and not be compressed, unless it was heavily plastic coated.

    But who knows. :p

Errors must not have been collected as much back then or it would not have seen so much use. Today I suspect a coin like that would be scarfed right up.

    That's a long scar face.

Food for thought is that in 1920 wire was often solid gauge rather than braided or multi strand. IMO. Peace Roy
