Is anyone up for a "Stuck in Limbo" thread??

In the event you aren't familiar with the term "Limbo" it's a religious term which represents the place between Heaven and Hell where Souls await their release, hopefully to the higher plane of Heaven. The primary supposed residents are those just persons who died prior to the coming of Christ and unbaptized babies. In our general lexicon it is "an uncertain period of awaiting a decision or resolution; an intermediate state or condition" which has no foreseeable ending.

For us, Limbo would be the indeterminate time that PCGS is closed, and our "unbaptized babies" are obviously the submissions we have waiting in queue. I have a single medal stuck in a precarious place, being imaged and awaiting encapsulation, close to Heaven but not quite there yet.

I thought we might pass some time by posting pictures of our Limbo coins if we have them, seeing as a good percentage of us are in various forms of lockdown. Stay safe.

1876 Centennial of Independence, Gilt Copper. These are the sellers pictures, in hand the medal pops and is quite clean except for a small obverse scratch just to the right of Columbia's head. I predict MS64 and some good protection.

Lots of people are stuck in limbo now and finding it boring. Good luck with all of your limbo coins. Hope they go to Heaven.

I think there was another thread a couple of days ago on this one. I’ve got 12 in waiting but no pics. I still hope PCGS will offer those of us in queue to have a special label saying something like “COVID 19 Survivor” or “I Survived COVID 19”. That would be awesome. At least for me.

9 in Limbo here. But now another Limbo problem has occurred. I just bought this 1966 DDO. Problem is, it's in someones "Private registry". I sent the request which I hope the past owner sees, BUT, if they don't, I guess I will be in Limbo till PCGS reopens so they can remove the coin from the former owners set.

Most of the PCGS staff is working from home and can probably take care of that for you.

I am not sure where my post went but I submitted this through a dealer friend who grabbed some images of it before sending it off to PCGS. High hopes!

I was thinking... I wonder how PCGS will handle those items in queue vs new items waiting that were sent in. Would they bump everyone in the queue back because a new arrival came with the fastest tier? Given how long they may be unable to work and how many submissions may be sent it could lead to some sticky wickets.

Another name for "Limbo" is "Purgatory". I'm sure it is for some, I have coins in Limbo, as for me, it's life as usual.

Sending coins in when they announce they are back open will be like submitting coins after 3 big coins show in a row...it will still be a long wait.
