In the very beginning of my type set. Could use some advice in what would be a nice selection of Commemorative Half Dollar to fill the slots.
Alabama, California, Texas and Antietam
Reasons list in reply, further down in thread.

Oregon.
Boone.

Go for epic fails of the us mint commems
Definitely Oregon--possibly the finest design in the classic silver commemorative series.
Columbian Exposition
Norse medal (thin)--Not technically a commem, but should have been.
One with a Civil War-related theme (e.g., Antietam)

I went Columbus, Pilgrim, Oregon Trail, and San Diego for the album. Also have Monroe, Connecticut, Texas, Bay Bridge, maybe one or two others..
Liberty: Parent of Science & Industry
The 7070 Commem section is the one place where you can put your own personal stamp on the album.
Make it uniquely yours by what you choose to occupy those spaces.

My Washington Quarter Registry set...in progress
I have been toying with a 7070 album for a few decades. At first, it had only nice coins. Now it is funky--with a mix of things (c/s copper, contemporary counterfeits, a proof Liberty nickel, some coins belonging to deceased family members, a store card made using an 1863 Indian Head cent as a host, etc.). Put your personal stamp on the WHOLE album. It has been a lot of fun.

I did a little research. I think I am going to go with Alabama, California and Texas. All states that I have lived in, and Antietam for my love of U.S. History. Had several great great great grandfathers who served. Thanks for the ideas.

HAPPY COLLECTING
Call it a local bias, but I love the Connecticut. I would also include the 1986 Statue of Liberty. There are so many beautiful choices, it's kinda hard to go wrong.

Select the one's that appeal to you... either design or history.....or some personal connection (i.e. lived there, family roots, etc.)....That makes your collection personalized and special for you. Cheers, RickO
Choose whichever ones you like.
Could be that you like the design or the thing the coin commemorates.
I’d suggest choosing two classics and two moderns.
If you have a large budget I would include the Hawaii and pan pacific. But, if you don’t have an endless budget you could pick Oregon, Texas, pilgrim, and San Diego.
Looks as if there are 4 spots:
Oregon any date
Illinois... Mainly because of the Lincoln Portrait and eagle reverse
Colombian
Pilgrim either date
These capture a representative sample of both history and design ...good luck
