Idiots with Little Skill and a Lot of Motivation can be Dangerous -- First Pic Attempt in 12 Years

OK . . .now I know what all that gibberish is about focus, camera stands, "Who takes the best pics?", lighting, white, green and azure balance, etc. means. I took a crappy pic (some of you who know this coin will be the first to agree!!!) . . but HEY !!!!!! I think I did it !!!! It was on my bucket list . . . . post a pic to the Boards. I can now die a sheeety photographer (but I do have the finest toned Morgie on the planet) and focus on the other bucket items . . . a golf round with Lakes . . . having Ricko up to the ranch for a run through my El Presidente course . . . presenting a bottle of wine to Charmy she has never seen before . . . etc.
Let's see exactly how bad this looks. No human ever on these boards has ever slaughtered such a beautiful coin with such barbaric photo tactics . . . but I am pumped!!!! Give me a little time . . . . if I live through the earthquakes and Corona.

Beautiful coin!!!
Now that you see how easy it is, let's see the reverse.
Doggoneit . . .I knew somebody would ask! OK . . back to work . . . . .

Reverse. OK . . . give me a bit of a break . . . . . I am struggling here to get a decent pic . . . . .I'll get better (Monty Python reference).

If you average the quality and appeal of the coin and the quality of the photo, overall it's still pretty nice
Mozart's music can withstand awful arrangements and mediocre performances and still be Mozart. Your coin is a Mozart.

Bag Burn finally makes another appearance! ‘Bout time man! ✨
I’ve still got this shaky one from the bourse that you let me snap......March 2015 it was.....what a Monster. Yours ain’t horrible but you failed on Luster. lol
PS- this Monster is up there with the Top 5 All Time Rainbow Morgan’s in my humble (and exceedingly well informed) opinion.
No offense, but ask John @messydesk or Todd @blu62vette to do a
glamour shot of this beautiful dollar. I know you will like the results.
That's incredible! When your that photogenic all that other stuff doesn't really matter. But a glamour shot would be like ringing the dinner bell.
I've heard about this coin, nice to actually see it!!!

That's the nicest Morgan I've ever seen. Wow!
WOW.

I like the holder. No opinion on the coin. I have no knowledge about toning on silver dollars. But I like the holder!
Tibor . . . . Todd got some shots back a few years ago . . he did a great job but I bet he would be even better now . . .
Drunner
Thanks Android . . . . Elmer. I owe Todd lunch for walking it through for me years ago. Might be time for a re-walk . . . just to see. Or . . . a True-View or glamour shot?
Drunner
Believe me when I say this, my first photo was way worse than yours. Good job!
Did you happen to buy this one at the price of a regular MS Morgan or was there already a good premium for this toning? I've heard of folks finding nice ones in the wild for little to no premium, hopefully you lucked out too!

Erik . . .there was a premium assigned when I found it. It was ungraded, in that Capital holder that Seattle photo'd above, so the premium was just for the color and the coin itself was 'old-school' just graded as "Gem". I bought it for about 66 money with a bit added for the toning. It was the first time the coin was displayed in public since around 1964. I was at the right place at the right time.

What is the story behind those holders? I know a whole bunch of absolute monster toned Morgans came out of that collection and those holders.

Very nice - I'll trade my photographic skills for your great eye for coins.
I knew it would happen.
That is spectacular color!
Nice!
@DRUNNER gorgeous coin! Wow.
@DRUNNER.... Still laughing at your post...Not the picture, you actually captured the colors quite well... Very good for a first attempt. Roll on...Cheers, RickO
Wow - beautiful coin and not a bad photo. I'm impressed!
Similar bucket list - we need to play sooner than later before we run out of forward tee's to move up to.
Had to double check the cert to make sure they didn’t TruView it .... seems a crime that they didn’t ... and a crime that you didn’t pony up the extra few bucks for one! 😈😇
Great pics of a beautiful piece👍
Another shot. Simply simplistic . . .. we'll get some glamour shots posted. I don't know True-View was even an option when I first toured the walk-through . . .but I will now . . .
Drunner
Oh crap . . .something from the wifey . . .
You've found a whole new brave world out there enjoy the ride!
Sorry about that. this is a work in progress . . . .
I approve of this message.

John . . . . PM sent.
It’s a good first attempt, but it’s my understanding that all photos posted on the internet are supposed to have a cat in them so you might try that next time!

Delaware . . . . good questions.
I am unaware of any group or hoard in Capital Plastics holders such as Bag Burn was found in. Perhaps . . . but not this one.
Brief history of Bag Burn . . .
She (as in ships or trusted aircraft -- a female gender) was the singular select piece from 4 original bags a local collector had put away in the late 50's. He had a stellar type set, primarily ungraded, but one of those "if only this had seen PCGS" Type sets . . . some old gold sets . . . Pioneer gold, and classic Bust sets. Old school . . . and started selling to a shop in our area once he hit his mid 80's. This piece was his Morgan Type Dollar, his selection from the 4 bags, and he had it put in a custom Capital holder as you see it from Seattle pictured in this thread. It was shown to me about 18 months before the purchase, and of course I checked on it almost weekly. I simply could not believe the color compared to even the famous pages here on the internet. After about 18 months I received a call from the shop and was asked if I still was interested. Of course . . . my answer was yes, and as I drove 20 miles to it I set up in my mind the price I would be willing to pay. Upon arrival, we set up in a back office and I got to look at it again . . .and the price asked was about 15% under what my max would have been. Deal done.
Todd (BluCC) photo'd it and walked it through (Portland?). Bless his heart. He left the photo up on his monitor and it nearly choked the aisle as people stopped to look. At that show, the previous owner of "The Moose" looked at the coin in the original Capital holder and clearly stated in his opinion, as a previous owner of The Moose . .the dollar was double the eye appeal.
It has been put away since the early 60's . . . .I have owned it for about 7 years. It is not from any hoard or known accumulation.

Cool coin! I would love a chance to photograph it. Stop by next time you come through Idaho.
Bryce . . I know where you are . .and I would love for you to get close to it. I will be in touch . . .
You know I am not far away . . . . . . and I am always good for a classy lunch.

Excellent first posted image!
I remember my jaw dropping when you first showed me Bag Burn in Portland.
I'm still in awe 👍

But SUPERB humor !!!!!!

Goodness gracious, I didn't think there would ever be a Morgan that would top The Moose. Wow. I too would love to get it under my lens, but I'm just a nobody here.
