If USPS in California starts holding their customers' packages, it could create quite a logistics headache.

I like the following which sums it up nicely:
I think everyone will be in shelter in place mode by end of next week. Such is life these days. Maybe we can have special PCGS labels for each coin currently waiting that say “COVID19 Survivor” or something. That would at least give a bit of humor to the situation.
Uncharted is right. This isn't just about CA either, parts of the world have been or will be doing the same thing.
Coin grading is such a small speck of dust in the scheme of things, but it is part of a much larger web.

If I have some grading vouchers that are set to expire in a week or so will they still be honored once the shutdown is over? Thanks and hang in there.
If the coins are already in the system, I’d imagine they will honor the vouchers.
We would like to give you some peace of mind regarding any submissions currently in our possession or in route. PCGS will be continuing to receive submissions sent by mail for the foreseeable future. At this time, we are unable to reject, reroute or return submissions. If your package is currently in transport and you would like it returned, please contact your carrier for any destination change requests.
All coins and banknotes currently in our possession or received in the coming weeks will be fully insured and safely stored in our secure facility.
Regarding the concerns about vouchers, please feel free to reach out via direct message here, and we will advise you as to the information needed to extend the expiration date.
We wish you and your loved ones health and peace of mind during this turbulent time and we thank you for your continued support and understanding.
Didn’t they just reopen? I don’t think it’s helpful to keep flip-flopping.
I just hope ya'll don't toss some of us to the back of the line that have orders there already!
Agree. However, It's the CA government pulling this BS - NOT the TPGS.
It’s not their fault. They have been reacting to conflicting orders from the county, as well as state-wide orders. Surely, you can understand that many decisions are evolving and subject to change at this time.

I don't generally directly submit, but I am a business consultant. Since PCGS is already set up to do remote show grading, why didn't you have a bug out back up location as part of your business continuity plan. I know you couldn't move the whole operation quickly, but I think someone in earthquake alley would have had a plan in place to at least continue some activities. No offense meant at all, just wondering.
Are you suggesting that they travel out of state with the coins which need to be graded and look for a state that hasn’t yet told people to stay home? If not that, what are you suggesting?

I'm saying that such a plan should be in place, the same as all the brokerage firms have. Even if they have the plan and decided not to implement. The problem now with many of the brokers is that their primary site is in NYC and their back-up is in NJ. Ugh.
And again, not saying the full operation.
Again, what would you have PCGS do? Brokerage firms don’t have coins and employees that would need to be moved elsewhere in order to conduct business.

They don't have coins, but they do have to move employees. I'd almost bet your company has such a plan in place for your IT operations, ours does. I was just wondering on this anyway, again, especially in an earthquake zone. BTW, I'm in MD so all of CA is one giant earthquake waiting to happen. Hot site back-up is a big business for all kinds of companies, and hot-sites range from empty buildings where you start from scratch to fully operational duplicate facilities where your staff walks in and flips a switch. And no, my company doesn't do that so I'm not looking for business.
Skip, please stop.
California is saving lives.
I thank God that I live in Califonia.
I work for a california company, but far from it. Been told to work from home. Still head out everyday to get things done. Many things are closed, but many others are open. Hope Stacks can mail my auction winnings to me.
Businesses in NYS are now ordered to close (with exceptions for essential needs)...So I will be fully retired again - for a while
....Lots of stuff to do at home...time to catch up. Cheers, RickO
I saw in another thread that beer distributors are considered essential personnel in at least one state. Gotta love America!
Did the New York Times shut down? I wouldn't think they are essential.
