How can you tell that a missing "bite" like this is an authentic mint error vs pmd?
Instagram
By the look of it.
Is there an effect that starts with B?
If not why not

Also, odd radius.
Curious piece

Any way to tell by the die if it's a W?
You mean The Blakesley Effect which is there slightly, more so on the obverse. The Blakesley Effect does not happen on all genuine clips. I look for metal flow which can't be seen it the sellers photos.

Then, what are you basing your judgment on? If all you have to go on are those photos?

Experience. The coin has the "right look" to it.
100% real clip.
Super awesome design super rare date
A characteristic of large clips.
Also, look at the copper bleed by the flags.
Where have we heard that before?

Nice pick-up!
Great transactions with oih82w8, JasonGaming, Moose1913.
Was watching that one too but went too high for me. This was the first AMP clip that I have seen, but I’m sure she will get more...
I'll give you 18.75 cents for it, right now.
Interesting large clip. Any plan to slab it with TPG?
So, I just looked at the bid history
I always snipe in the last few seconds except for this one as I was at my mom's estate sale so I placed one early nuke bid.
Underbiddder bid many times driving up the price. Oh well. I bid to win this one.
Now to get it certified and place it into inventory.
Not always, sometimes just a one up.
Sometimes a run.
Time will tell.
Still waiting and waiting for certain types so show up

Nice!
You got screwed. You're out 6.25 PENNIES! I thought you were smarter than that.
There are lot's of sharks in the Marianas... maybe that's what took a chunk out of your quarter.
U.S. Type Set
That is a neat coin.
Thanks for sharing tips on authenticating!

Look at the copper bleed especially, as well as any design struck right to the edge.
Now that is a significant clip....Thanks for showing us and the tips on determining authenticity. The Blakesley effect has been discussed many times, but, as you mentioned, it is not always there...Looking forward to your pictures... Cheers, RickO
I'll bet it cost more than 3/4 of a dollar. Might have cost 3/4 of a silver dollar. About nine bucks ? LOL.

Can't wait to see better images, especially edge and rim pics. Peace Roy

It has a nice Blakesley effect. Definitely real.

Coin arrived today
Sweet, sweet metal flow
Very high grade
Late to the party but absolutely genuine. Basing that on the faint Blakesley effect, the copper bleed, and the tiny rim clip adjacent to the larger one (look by QUA on the obverse pic). I also know this seller and her material to be upstanding, I have purchased many tough modern clips from her over the years.

This one will go to PCGS at some point in the future
