Went to the the ANA show here in Franklin, TN (suburb of Nashville) put on by Butternut.

It was a fairly small show. The room was about 1500 sq. ft. And had about 2 dozen dealers. There were about 100 people in there at any given time for the two hours I was there. I was there later in the afternoon and was told it was a little more busy throughout the day.

No one seemed concerned or even talked about the Coronavirus. It seemed to be business as usual. The dealers I shot the breeze with were from Chattanooga, Atlanta and various smaller towns along the Georgia, Alabama and Tennessee border. There was even a guy from Oregon.

There was a big selection of series to choose from and the show exceeded my expectations. I thought i would see bourse tables full of raw Morgans, walkers and Lincoln cents. There was a lot of early gold, early dollars, seated silver, 19th century proofs and even some cool patterns. Butternut specializes in early copper and had TONS of it. Very big selection of die varieties from 1794-1850s. Lots of movement in Morgan’s. I saw a lot of dealers both buying and selling CC Morgan’s.

I was focused on bust halves as I’m looking for several dates and Overton varieties. It was Good to see a lot of fresh pieces as I’ve been relegated to the internet for the past year. I found a few nice raw 1809 III edge halves that I am going back to strike a deal on tomorrow.

I had a few bucks in my pocket and grabbed this for the time being...

Very nice report and the show sounds like a really good one for a smaller show. Interesting about the CC Morgans...I completed my set around 2002 or so....I should check and see what they are selling for now...Not that I would sell mine... Just wondering how expensive it would be to do a set 18 years later...Cheers, RickO

It was not an ANA show. It was put on by the ANA President.

90% silver was being bought and sold at several tables throughout the day.

I didn’t see anyone buying gold. There wasn’t a ton for sale either. The table right by the door had a great selection of pcgs gold and that was about it.

Went back today pretty late because I’m working midnights and had just woken up. Everyone was pretty much gone except Butternut and a few other bigger tables. The guy from Dalton seemed confident that show will go on as others around had been cancelled but they seem to be refusing to cancel it for The time being. Maybe since it’s a month out, they’re waiting to see what happens.

Struck a deal for an 1809 III

Traded the 1824 PCGS bust half I had in BST forum plus a few bucks. Can’t argue with that price point. It has some hidden luster and only a bit of weakness to the strike on the reverse. Love the III and XXX edge coins. I think it’s an O-109a but I haven’t really been able to look yet.

Also grabbed a Morgan rattler for my common date rattler set. Has a pretty clean cheek for a 63.
