So I’m at a vey quiet Heathrow, about to board an almost empty flight to Barcelona, to attend an auction, and it occurs to me that I’m as crazy as the coin dealers who headed to Cairo in 1954 to attend the Farouk sale. Maybe more so! Yet I’m almost certain that, unlike at Farouk, there will be no bargains this week. Friggin’ internet. I tell you, it’s just not fair!

Take your pick -- the Egyptian Army or the Guardia Civil watching your every move. (Another + for the Internet?).
I suppose this is one of those moments when you can reflect back on the fact that you have at least been to Heathrow and have had the opportunity to experience the UK and go to Spain and elsewhere. Perhaps the reason for even posting this is that there is a commercial that I seem to consistently see suggesting somewhere around 130,000,000 people in the US have never been on a plane and they need to explore the planet. And it is easy to get caught up in thinking those numbers are B S... Then through just idle chat, those that you expect had been on a plane have not... The moments we are experiencing now should give us pause to reflect on how fortunate some of us are.
As for the Internet, look at the bright side in that you can see those coins that are not what one would expect because they were photographed and presented in the most favorable light... And perhaps there are perceived dogs that just might be better in hand and beyond what can be captured in an image. This variation may still pay for the live participation.

Most of those 130 million are likely children.
If I had the opportunity, I’d fly out while the crowds are down. However, life, work, family, and PTO hold me back.

The American coin dealers who attended the Farouk sale had to give 'gifts' to the Egyptian Army officers (as noted in 'Abe Kossoff Remembers'). So you don't have to do that!
