I'm sure dealers can figure out how to set up their own small security cameras attached to a laptop behind them to capture images and video of customers. Or maybe just put a sign up that says "smile because you're on camera " even if they are not.
I do wonder how dealers handle that situation. I have seen many over the years take their eyes off the table when dealing with someone. Whenever I’m at a table I never reach in or touch anything without asking the dealer. If I see someone who looks suspicious, I make sure to make extended eye contact with them. It’s a small thing but we collectors and dealers need to work together on show safety and theft.
It happened once to me when I was set up at a very slow show. A vest pocket guy wanted to look through a box of post WWII silver in flips, I also had gold in the case. I ended up losing several gold coins. When I noticed that after I got home the show manager said it was my own fault.
Really wearing masks ready to rob? I know there is a scare going on but if we have to dawn masks should you even be there let alone allowing people handle your prized coins wearing masks?
Wonder what's gonna happen when the public starts wearing the masks while in the bank?

A great ending.
My credit union posted signs that said anyone wearing masks
May be asked to remove them

Just for information WYZE makes a simple HD Video Camera that you can record to micro SD chip up to 64gb and you can access directly to a smartphone, it also record sound, this is a great camera and the cost, $25. These are good for situations like this and great for home security. Check them out on Amazon. I have been running four of these cameras for three years and never had a problem, excellent for remote viewing, a cheap price for a high quality camera.

Big shows need to pay trained undercover folks to spot and follow suspicious people around. We did it at the malls to spot big shoplifting rings. It was very successful.

I know it’s an added expense but why don’t dealers pay a security person or an extra body to hang around and keep an eye.
Glad to see most of the material was recovered and at least one arrest. Fast work - kudos to those involved. Video monitoring of a dealers table is a good precaution... and add a sign. The equipment is inexpensive and easy to set up with a laptop. Cheers, RickO
Bank should be proactive. Tase them...tase them all!
Great suggestion. Can you please elaborate a bit as to the model u use?
there seem to be a few and all are reasonable.
KEEP on fighting.... you are doing well!! good luck and all the best to you.
Here is a screenshot of the camera I use, I also included the link description. Even though these say indoor use I have one above my front door that I put in a "Bird House" enclosure. The price is cheap but the camera is not built cheap at all. You won't be disappointed with these. They are powered by a 5 Volt power supply which is included, check out the reviews.
