Found a 2019 W American Memorial Quarter today, how to remove this gunk?
There is some material sitting above the surface. Four spots on the reverse, three on the obverse. Too bad... looks ok otherwise. Should I try acetone? Or another organic solvent?

spend it and buy one you like, preferably graded and stable.

Don’t spend it. You could throw it up on eBay for 5-10 bucks and put the proceeds toward a better one. I have three problem free examples on eBay auction and they are all around 20$ with one day to go.
Acetone is the only solvent to try. No harm no foul. Peace Roy

Soak in rubbing alcohol take a q-tip soaked in rubbing alcohol and roll it over the coin to remove the gunk. Wash under warm water and pat dry, should take care of it. If not then try acetone one or the other will remove the stuff on the coin; I prefer to use the alcohol first as its not as bad for your lungs and skin.
My Collection of Old Holders
Never a slave to one plastic brand will I ever be.
Ammonia diluted 1:1 with water and Q-tip tamping. Then rinse with plenty water and tamp dry with high nap cotton towel. I'd buy at $5.
Well, just Love coins, period.
Nice find... was that in change or coin roll searching?? Cheers, RickO
@ricko Thanks. It was in a roll, found it while plugging holes in the ATB albums
@AUandAG I have one in MS67, just cool to find one raw. I’ll keep it.
@coinbuf thanks I’ll try that
