Common date XF Peace dollars do trade around melt. Doesn't necessarily look cleaned from your photos, but wouldn't have a great impact since there's no numismatic premium for that coin.

    Ultra common and ugly. Pass.

  • The person is selling for $28, perhaps I should offer $25 if I decide I would like it in my collection. I didn't think it was ugly. Just dirty on the back.

You can find a graded mint state example for $25-40 easily

Just to add my 2 cents worth
I think that $25.00 would be for a slider, and a truly nice unc $40.00
That coin looks like a $15.00 maybe a little , very little more.

Peace dollars are extremely common and there are many available for several dollars less than the $25 you mentioned. Check around more.

Take some time to check out much better condition common Peace dollars. Go to a coin show, check the BST here. Dirty is not a good place to start collecting. Dirt, grime, grease, whatever is hiding the actual grade of this coin. Knowledge is power. Try not to feel that it you don't but this coin there will never be another better coin for your money. Sorry but I agree with everyone else. This is not a collectible coin. Even as a bullion coin it has marginal value. There are literally millions of better examples.

You should be able to find decent unc's for $25.(Of this date/mm)

    I think that's a '22 - P?

For comparison: This one sold on eBay a few days back (02-13) for $30 with free shipping. Rattler slab adds a little history. Several others at the same grade and price, some with more luster but later PCGS slabs. And a handful of 61s and 62 for $25 or less.

Why offer anything? You need to raise your standards for what is acceptable. That coin is nothing more than a base level Peace Dollar and isn't worth a second look.

Patience is very important. Sometimes, like this one, the smartest purchase is NO purchase.
