Need to be quick... ?

So I was just casually browsing ebay and came across a nice $10 gold indian no-motto. Looked exceptional to me for the grade, if maybe a bit of a weak strike.
However I dont really know pricing on these so I took a few minutes to look them up. I thought it might be a nice replacement for my type set.
As I was debating what I might sell to offset the purchase price, or how I could explain it to my wife (lol), it sold! Couldnt have been more than 5 minutes from when I saw it, and the coin already had several watchers so I figured it was posted for some time.
At the end of the day I dont regret being too slow... I needed a few minutes to decide... but dang!
What is everyone's process when they see a coin they like? Buy immediately and deal with the consequences later? Sit on it overnight? Or like me, take a few minutes to ensure you are informed, catch your breath, and make a calm rational decision?
Anyone here get this beauty?

To my detriment, I hesitate too often and have a few regrets.

Great BIN's last less than 5 minutes.
That does look like a nice one for sure. Whenever I see one I really like I always put a watch on it, research it up a bit, ask myself if it is truly worth the money over something else I may have been planning, usually I’ll ask my wife what she thinks. If it gets sold in the mean time then I wasn’t meant to get it
Of course, if the coin is pretty inexpensive (~100 or less) then I may give in to impulse buys.
Been there, done that. Don't want to do it again.

It all depends on the situation... Is it slabbed by our hosts, a good price, something I want.....if all of those are yes, then I would jump on it... anything else takes a bit of research....The old adage is 'Act in haste, repent at leisure.' I am very cautious on raw material.... and when not able to evaluate 'in hand', I normally pass. Except from forum members that I know and have dealt with... Then, a good price and something I want are all that is necessary. There are some great members here....Cheers, RickO
I've been there and done that. If I had to guestimate over the course of the last 30 years, I have only regretted not getting something a handful of times. I would say more than 95% of the time I ended up with something much better.

The coin show dealer table rule #87 "The Five Five rule".
Walk away from the table for five seconds or five feet and the deal is OFF!!
If I see it and want it ... I'll get it because I might not see it again.
Yeah you should have jumped on that one if you were in the market. I don't think you'll find many around here who would argue about it being in a 65 holder, based on the trueview at least.

Buy first, then figure out how to offset

This particular coin, I wasnt in the market for one, but it really would have been a great fit in my set. I have been looking for a common date 65 but this one is nicer than any 1926 or 1932 65 I have seen and for less $$ than most! I was within seconds of purchase when I saw it sold. Kinda bummed right now but I have been spending too much $$ lately anyway. Maybe its for the best.

I do the same as you, unless it's a date/series I know well from past research. But given all the combinations out there I usually need 5-10 minutes for proper research. What's the PCGS Price Guide value? What have the auctions been ending for at Heritage over the last 3-6 months? What's the cost of the next grade higher (can I afford a slightly better example)? And then, finally, do I have the money in my budget or can I move things around to find it before payment's due? Then buy, if it's still available. Sometimes it's not, like above, but most times it is.

Shoot first research later
Such an attractive design and coin and image... like a moth to the flame.
Speaking of moths. Went on a late night run to the store which is about a half mile. Moth was on windshield and he hung on for dear life wings up at about 20MPH. Got to the store and he was still there. No way he would have held on for the return trip. When coming back out was going to rescue him, as he earned it. Tried to nab him and search for better place and little guy fluttered under the grill part at base of windshield. He was heck of lot smarter than me and made the return trip nice and cozy.
Moral of the story... sometimes the bug defeats the windshield.
If you didn't need it, it was probably for the best.

Time is of the essence. There have been times that I've seen coins that I like 'after hours' on dealers websites. I always make sure that I get up early the next day, so that I can be the first one to get a shot at it. And NO, it doesn't usually take very long for me to KNOW, if I like a coin. eBay BIN is different, because they are available 24/7, so YES you MUST act, as soon as you can!!
Sometimes, it’s better to be LUCKY than good. 🍀 🍺👍
