Seated Dollar NEWP

Hi Folks,
Here is a seated dollar newp. PCGS estimates that at least 2500 of this first year seated dollar are extant. PCGS records 470 grading events including 69 in 40 (NGC 290/23). CAC has only beaned 54 total of this date, 10 in XF40. CAC is extremely picky with endowing the bean on seated coinage and one wonders just how many more will be beaned between the PCGS and NGC populations, we are talking about <<10% of their grading events for this coin as deemed A or B in a given grade... Also below is an 1884-O Morgan, common date and grade, but uncommon eye appeal, in a Fatty. I re-imaged it today along with the LSD so thought I would show it too. As usual when I upload coins to this site, there is a slight red-shift to the images, so the LSD is slightly less 'red' than shown.

Best, SH

    Nice pickup!
My 7070 is generally first year of issue/last year of issue.
My 1840 LSD is in no danger of swelling the populations, as hairlines under
the toning would likely preclude a straight grade.
I hunted for this coin in the pre-internet days for years, and finally settled on mine
via a mail order that I decided to keep instead of returning. As fate would have it, at
the next medium sized show I found another in AU in a small ANACs holder with lovely
toning and reasonably priced....but decided to pass rather than pick up another, nicer one :#
    and I still regret it.

The coins you share are typically PQ eye appealing coins and these coins definitely fall in that category. Thanks for sharing them with us. I think the 1840 could be a xf45 on a good day because of her nice rims, full LIBERTY in the shield and Better then average hair detail for the grade. crusty original look is awesome. I bought several 1840 $1s before landing on my set piece. Each of them had there own issues. The piece I have now is an XF45 CAC... not perfect but given she survived events like multiple meltings for bullion, the civil war, multiple world wars, and a host of other disasters . I cut her a little slack....

That light sorta scuffy look on the high points generally pleases CAC.

I don’t know about anyone else, but I’m sick and tired of SH posting nice coins. How about something mediocre once in a while, for something different?😉

Your coins are always so wildly original. I really like that.
No surprise that it beaned due to that fact. Congratulations!

The Morgan fatty is nice too. Always hard to resist those.
