Which kind?

joeykoinsjoeykoins Posts: 17,963 ✭✭✭✭✭

Hi guy's, curious? Which kind of collector best describes you? Are you the kind of collector, whether a cherry picker or just an ordinal collector, that is fierce and aggressive in your searches as the Hunter? Or are you the kind of collector with the laid back attitude like a Fisherman that just waits patiently for it's catch? Myself, I would say I'm that fierce Hunter! Thanks guy's.

The best hunters have a laid back attitude. Watch the game for a lifetime. Get to know their habits....before sunrise.....morning....noon...dusk...and night. No hurry. After that the rest is a piece of cake. Fishermen?......they're just plain lazy.I

I think I'm more of a "Hiker"...I'll walk many many miles enjoying what I am seeing along the journey, but will stop when I find something beautiful that I really like to see! B)

I’m a trout fly fisherman. Constantly casting, occasionally reeling.

    I fish tournaments
Yes there is stress in that type of fishing!
Nothing like fishing Erie with seven foot waves, sideway rain in 25 MPH wind in a Bass boat!

Hunter, that can only afford so many bullets

I hear you. The guys at the shop love to go plinking. But.....we're In California. So many new laws. So many regulations on ammo. It's like you're made to feel like a criminal if you want to have some fun on the weekend. So many added fees. Makes it hard on the working man.

Whether, you're the Hunter or Fisherman in collecting. What is your main "target"? Mine would be, of course, being the cherry picker that I am, Hunting down the 1998 or 1999 Close AM Variety Proof Sets. Worth from $150-$200.
Sure, it won't break the bank but I'm not greedy. My "target" is not too hard to hit but easily in sight. What's your's? <3

I have hunted, and I have fished...been successful at both endeavors. I have also hiked mountains and explored caves...Both have been rewarding. Now I am more tactical, and although not hunting or fishing, I am prepared for either sport should the opportunity be presented. Cheers, RickO

I'm the hunter during the week ... on the week ends I'm the fishermen.

I am a fisherman but also a very aggressive buyer.

All my buddies and I fish ONLY for trophy fish.

We never go for the catch and release bass fishing.

So I do have patience, but when a trophy swims by, I do have my Gaff ready.

You know what my sea monster would be in searching for the big one in coins? My dream coin to hunt down would be the exclusive, " 1992 Close AM" in BU! Man-n-n. That would be my WHALE! <3

    More of a trophy hunter.

One time, I spent six months looking day and night for a particular VAM. Found four unattributed and two raw and netted about $5K after purchases, resubs, and fees...

    Got to be relentless.

Congrats. Yes, indeed! Sometimes you have to be relentless if you want to pursue the coin you HUNT down. :)

In this crazy hobby, sometimes you don't have to pursue or hunt vigorously. One of my BEST finds came like a Fisherman. Just sitting back and waiting for that bite. That's when I surprisingly found a gem while walking down the street. I so happened to come upon a 1999 Wide Am Cent. Picked it up and sent it in across the street (NGC) and it came back a 64 RB! <3
