I agree the luster supports a higher grade but there is no real price difference so what eves. That said every time I find one that looks like that in a lower holder there is a bang somewhere hidden on the coin in the hair or eagle typically.
These coins are a bit frustrating to me. I’ve got several of the 1922-1925 common dates and they all have eye-hurting luster but they all have lots of very small marks, die polish quite evident (I think, it doesn’t strike me as hairlines), and that chrome brilliant look. I think I’ll send one in and see how it grades to compare against others.
oddly enough if a coin gets my notice i look at the photos looking for anything unusual, like die cracks and such, then research the coin and after all that then see if i want it based on what i know of the coin
on this coin there is a minor die crack on the neck and this
well there are some errors on this coin i listed them in my other reply, one i'm sure is a die crack the other no idea
and those weighed in favor of me getting this coin
I like Peace Dollars but have no idea how to accurately put a grade to one. The exceptionally low relief of the lettering just throws me off to much.
Nice coin...

Nice Peace! Looks like a 64.
Good luster!

Be careful. The darn things are addictive.

11.5$ Southern Dollars, The little “Big Easy” set
i don't buy coins on grades cause sometimes the grade can be overdone or under what the coin should be, i buy on if the coin gets my notice

Large portions of each side’s surface can’t be viewed adequately, in order to assign a meaningful grade to the coin.

I like Peace Dollars and that appears to be a nice one. Would like full pictures of both sides...Cheers, RickO
