If you could grade this Morgan...

I have an 1897o Morgan that I had sent in for restoration as it was artificially toned and I wanted to see if it could be restored. Unfortunately after restoration, it was still graded as questionable color. They did a great job on restoring it. My question to you all is if you could grade it yourself, what would you grade it other than questionable color? Sorry for such a large black background...not sure how to make it smaller.

Nice, it appears to have no hits on her cheek! That's key. I'll leave the rest for the more keener eye. To me, I Iike it.

Oh, second thought, I do see a couple of hits on her cheek. Sorry!

Hopefully they were able to stabilize the surfaces so it doesn't turn back. Do you have any "before" pictures?

I would grade this at a low 64, there is very little chatter visible in this picture. The color remaining is a problem though.

I have a raw Morgan that has been damaged bye a coin doctor (I bought it at melt). I looks like it had black or dark blue ink on it, it is also sticky to the touch.

I wonder if acetone might help remove this?

It does have a nice strike for the year and mint mark. It IS genuine uncirculated. Maybe I should send to ANACS just for the grade.

MS62, due to subdued luster and the flat/rubby cheek on Ms. Liberty.

I would say 63.... may be a bit harsh due to the large images...every little tic and ding jumps out....Cheers, RickO

Probably a 63 from PCGS or NGC. Without the cheek hits it would be a solid 64

63 I agree with @CCGGG QC must still be the color they left on the reverse.

The cheek hit is a sever downgrade. It's an MS 63 in my opinion as is.

I think the cheek hits (prime focal area) prevent this piece from getting higher than a 63... IMHO...

FWIW... the conservation looks much better...

That pic was NOT accurate when purchased. This is high res. Had option to return it but wanted to try the restoration.
