I don’t have a lot of quality in my 1916 coins, so here’s a couple for Sparticus.

One of the last great actors from the golden era of Hollywood and a truly commendable one who shied from the usual scandals etc of Hollywood in having one of Hollywood's longest celebrity marriages 64 years, his wife survives him and she is now 100 years old.

Sorry, no coin but I loved the man! What a talent he was. Spartacus probably was his most famous role but he exelled in so many others. He played drama as well as comedy. One other role I enjoyed him in was in the movie,"Town without pity". Great movie, check it out. I heard in his last few years,he has been studying the torah.

RIP Sir! Born in my childhood home of Amsterdam, NY. Long after I left they named a small park and playground along the Chuctanunda Creek near the center of town in his honor.

Kirk Douglas appeared in more than Western and Roman films.
One of his first roles was in the great detective film "Out of the Past" with Robert Mitchum.

I'm borrowing this photo from WillieBoyd2. Notice both cigs in Kirk's and Robert's hands! and yet Kirk lived to be 103? We lost Robert in '97. Kirk was born 1 year before Rob. WOW!
