I believe the most valuable. Coin in my collection is my 1958 DDO. ms65 red Lincoln Cent

My most valuable Barber dime is my 1893 o ms68pl
My most valuable matte proof Lincoln is my 1909 VDB proof 67 red with gold CAC

    Right now it would probably be a tie between my 1799 $1 and 1914s $20. They are both worth about the same.

    If I look at it not from dollars but from what I’d part with last... probably my grandfather’s 1863 1c in MS63. Would have graded better if his fingerprint wasn’t on it. :)

    Collection overall? Easily the 1907 High Relief Saint Gaudens I picked up a couple weeks ago. NGC 63+ CAC

    Classic Gold Commems series: 1915-S Pan-Pac $2.5 NGC MS 65

    The rest I own currently is low price though nice coins, or all their value is in the bullion (Gold Eagles, Gold Buffalos, Silver Eagles, etc) as I'm just starting to rebuild my collection after being away for a few years.

    My most valuable coin is a 1796 No Stars Quarter Eagle. The Second place coin is a Panama-Pacific round $50 gold. I paid more for a 1808 Quarter Eagle, which is a prime one year type coin, but the market has dropped on it. :/

    The trouble is when the market drops like that, the “bargain” is a bit of an illusion because fewer are offered and the choice for the grade pieces are seldom available.

    Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

    I guess it is in the eye of the beholder. I think it's my 1901-S Barber Half in AU 58. Traditions say it's the 1904-S Barber Half in AU58. The POPs are lower in both AU and MS for the 1901-S than the 1904-S. The Pop in 58 for the 01-S is 5 while for the 1904-S the Pop is 14! PCGS says the the 1904-S is worth 4 times what the 1901-S is! I know of 2 transactions for the 1901-S in 5 figures while I knw of a couple for the 1904-S at nearly double. I also think the 1896-O is worth more than the 1904-S!

    I say the 1901-S is worth more...What do you guys think?

    I agree with @coinkat that value should not take center stage. My most "valuable" coins in terms of dollars are not necessarily my nicest coins, nor the ones that provide me the most pleasure.

    ALL stored safely in a safe deposit box at my bank just a couple of blocks away!

    A day without fine wine and working on your coin collection is like a day without sunshine!!!

    Value is not the right question or even a reasonable question.

    First and foremost, there are privacy issues in terms of whether the question is something that should even be asked. Why is it that who holds the coin should be the question?

    Second, value is somewhat of a moving target in terms of the date, perceived rarity of the date, the quality of the coin and whether that coin is what it should be for the grade. Coins are worth what collectors are willing to pay for them. And each coin has it's own story, own look and we seem to have reduced that to a commodity like pork bellies or frozen orange juice. Coins deserve better mainly because of what they are combined with the purpose they have served.

    I’m a series collector, with many matching grades and with no specific, widely collected “key” amongst the current group (and no noticeable spreads between dates). That noted, my tops would be represented by the one I feel would edge out the others:

    Bust Right HEs:
    1807 P58

    Bust Left HEs:
    1810 P58

    In the Charlotte HE series, the clear heavyweight is my 1861-C P58.

    It depends upon how one defines "value". I notice that the majority of people interpret this to be a dollar value. This is a relative thing... a $200 coin might be an exorbitant sum to certain collectors... I have certain coins in my collection that aren't expensive by most measures yet I value them for their provenance. The Morgan Dollars from my grandfather, for instance. ..

    Well, I have 3 that are my most treasured.

    1) 1909-S VDB PCGS MS62BN Lincoln Cent

    2) 1914-D PCGS XF45 Lincoln Cent

    3) 1916-D PCGS G4 Mercury Dime

    I have other coins that are in higher grade but these (3) coins are the highlight of my collection. At 27 years old, I am very pleased with where my collection is and is going. I set a budget with each coin purchase and I stick to it.

    I collect mostly Seated Liberty Dollars and $20 gold double eagles... most valuable it would be my 1873cc VG10 cac OGH. For the $20 Gold, I would have to say its very close, but I would be compelled to say my 1860-s $20 lib ogh vf35.
