NEW!!! 1985 Japanese Wrestling Card Set Discovered Shogakukan Inc Magazine Supplement

wrestlingcardkingwrestlingcardking Posts: 4,555 ✭✭✭✭

Sorry fellas for not adding to my adventures with Dpeck at the wrestling convention last weekend as I was off work for that travel for three days navigating back to California and then I was a bit distracted by a pretty exciting piece of mail last night. This set consists of 53 cards and were inserted as a supplement to a 6th grade elementary school magazine in September of 1985. The manufacturer is Shogakukan. I needed some assistance from someone who could read Japanese for the set information but for the wrestlers I used google translate to get the names. I'm super excited to be holding cards of Hulk Hogan, Ric Flair, Andre the Giant and rookie cards of Hawk and Animal of the Road Warriors and rookies of King Kong Bundy, Dynamite Kid (although there is a paper cut out from 1982), and Davey Boy Smith. The cards measure 2 7/16 by 1 3/16 and have perforations from being removed from the sheet. There is an ad card that is a pull away too.

There is no reason why these shouldn't be slabbed. It's obvious we have a complete set and we know who and when these are made. With the rise in wrestling memorabilia, there is no reason for these not to be slabbed. Thanks for the heads up on this listing.

Those are really nice - the way they break off reminds of the 51T Red Backs.

    Photography's not bad either.

You've got King Kong Bundy in the set - well all right!

I shipped the Hogan, Flair and Andre to PSA earlier this week so hopefully we will see them in slabs in a few months. I'll keep everyone posted on my progress on these cards. This is the only time that I have ever seen these offered and we get a lot of stuff coming out of Japan the last few years. I hope to see more of these coming out of Japan.

The entire sheet is pictured above so that should help the process in getting them in slabs I would think. We know the maker, the year and the month they were released. It's all there!

Need to have a checklist somewhere on line and send that link to customer service to give them the heads up. Then if they agree... fw that email to customer service with the order number that the cards are in. Nothing worse than waiting 6 months and get an N9
