I know PCGS is very busy but...

I submitted 13 coins for grading that were received by PCGS on Saturday, December 13. As of this moment the coins are not in the system and I was told by customer service that it is taking up to 9 business days for this to happen. Yet, I submitted 4 coins on December 16, they were received on December 17, and were entered into the system on the 18th. So what gives??

Ebb & Flow. It depends on the number of submissions and priority orders ahead of yours.

It is not always easy to understand a businesses processes from the outside....Unless part of the system, practices may seem strange. In my many years in business, I have seen practices that seemed illogical, but when the process is understood, including the pitfalls of different industry practices, they made perfect sense. We are outside observers and not privy to the product flow and requirements of our host internal systems. So be patient, all will be well... In due time. ;) Cheers, RickO

I think of it like running a restaurant. You can be completely overwhelmed with business at a moment's notice. Staff gets ill or goes on vacation. It can be frustrating at times, but patience is a virtue.

It's good to vent, but patience is the winner.

  • Thanks guys. I realize patience is not my middle name, usually. My coins are in the system now.

My very special Colorado gold medal with less than 100 minted, and a lot less still known, is still sitting there unopened and it was delivered Dec 11th.

Was told it is all these rush 2019S ERP's taking priority... (which are going to price drop just like palladium did today).

Most things go up, then the reality or gravity takes hold. Even the new Boeing spaceship did not make it as high as hoped.

My submission is on day 5 and has not been entered in the system. Customer service says they got slammed with the new reverse proofs. They are aware of the problem and have made some changes and added some people to remedy this problem. However, as a longtime customer it's still very disappointing.

I have a pair of world coins on a regular submission that was received 12/3 and hasn't gone into grading yet. They must be phenomenally busy.

They should just eliminate the turnaround time feature.

Great transactions with oih82w8, JasonGaming, Moose1913.

    This!

I was told the same thing this morning - that the 2019 ERP's are taking priority. My single-coin 2-day walk through submission was received on December 12th and logged in on December 16th, and I'm told it likely will not be finished until the end of next week - for a total of 7 business days.

I hope they are not charging you for walkthrough, given that statement and the delay.

That's pretty egregious at that service level. When I first got into the hobby, PCGS used to guarantee turnaround times and give out vouchers if they missed the deadline. That policy ended over a decade ago, I'd guess...

Sadly, the submission collided with PCGS being inundated with the ERP's for first strike labeling. I wasn't expecting that, and certainly didn't think a $65 bullion coin would go to the front of the line, while a $36K item gets sent to the back of the bus. But, as @CoinJunkie said, there are NO guarantees anymore for the turnaround times!

My recent order was delivered on the 5th and not entered into the system until the 17th.

I have an economy in that just went to finalization and encapsulation after 4 days. It is interesting because it took 5 days to get entered in system.
